#LAAUTOSHOW: 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL Images LEAK Ahead Of LA Auto Show Debut

Images of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz SL have been leaked prior to the car's official debut at the Los Angeles motor show next week.

The images - which were first published here - confirm that the updated SL will adopt minor styling changes designed to bring it in line with the current Mercedes-Benz family, and in particular the Mercedes-AMG GT sports car. A redesigned front grille and LED headlight clusters can be seen, alongside tweaked exhaust outlets and a reprofiled bumper at the rear.

The SL’s engine line-up is unlikely to change significantly, meaning the current range of 3.0-litre V6, 4.6-litre and 5.5-litre V8s and 6.0-litre V12 engines will carry over. The high-performance SL63 has also been leaked, and is understood to be keeping its current 577bhp 5.5-litre V8 engine. Styling changes for the SL63 include a new grille, new carbonfibre exterior trim and new allow wheels.

The Los Angeles Auto Show (LAAS) photo galleries are sponsored by Lexus.

Used to be such a good looking car....

Yup. The last year they offered the quad round headlights, I'd have to say it was one of the most beautiful roadsters ever made.

I've been a fan of the SL for ages now and this car needs help. Yes, this is an update, but compared to Mercedes' recent offerings, it looks dated. The S-Class convertible makes this look like the ugly step sibling. The interiors of the C/S/AMG-GT make this look like it's the interior for the CLA. And compared to an Aston convertible, this has zero sex appeal.

BUT, I will say that I'm glad they at least made the front-end palpable to the eyes. The current front-end is outright ugly.

Because the people that purchases this care is not either classless or broke like you that have to ask that question. This car is for people that own private jets and not for people that live in a doublewide.
What an ignorant question. Are you 6 y/o? Making stupid statemenst like this. No wonder people don't take you seriously.

It's always been ungainly and this makes it truly HIDEOUS. But if Mercedes needs to continue building its "Lexus SC" for the geriatrics that buy this model to putt over to the golf course in, so be it.

As most people here know, I am a huge Mercedes fan. However this new SL is just awful. Its time to shut down this product line as its been displaced on the sporty end by the AMG GT and the Gran Touring end by the S class cab.

Its just a sad looking, pig-faced, non-practical, non-beautiful two door with no target market and no business case.

There is a business case, but this car needs a redesign. Don't worry, economics will force the Germans to do better, or cheat... HA!

after producing so many good looking cars, this car is a total fail...and this is supposed to be the s class roadster but its infinitely worse than the s sedan/coupe...

Well (for me) at least looks better, and performance wise even the m6 is not on able to catch it. It is projected for different buyer; AMG GT is the real sport car, in the other hand I see the SL as and Luxury Convertible (With metal or cristal roof, it is in it's own class, In fact I might be wrong but the first production roadster with retractile roof was the SL and now is a trend. The car is not what I wish but still one of the most desirable car of the world.
