IF Ford Brings Back The Bronco, Could It Be The ONLY Vehicle To Challenge The Jeep Wrangler?
Say what you will, but the Jeep Wrangler is still moving units like there's no tomorrow. As we all know at this point, Agent 001 is a fan of them in a big way. He was psyched during a recent visit to my neck of the woods to see so many Wranglers — highly modified ones, at that — around my neighborhood.

So, who's going to provide a proper challenge? It seems that Ford may, finally, be stepping up to the plate.

Though we've been lobbying for an all-new Bronco, there's been a whole 'lotta nothing going on. But a story that ran in The Detroit Free Press seems to suggest otherwise.

Having said that, IF Ford brings back the Bronco, is it the ONLY vehicle that will pose the chance to take down the Wrangler in terms of vehicle sales?

..Big names in that plan: the Ford Ranger mid-size pickup and Ford Bronco SUV could be making a comeback and will be built at the Michigan Assembly Plant. The move fills the hole to be created when Ford stops making the Focus and C-Max families of vehicles at Michigan Assembly in 2018. It also returns to the fold two storied vehicles that customers have clamored for...

Only if it is done right. Bronco and Blazer are probably the only two that could challenge the Wrangler, but Ford cannot do it on the cheap. I thought the FJ Cruiser was a good effort at first...but Toyota of course is too used to innocuous vehicles like Camry and RX300 and ES300 to know what to do with a vehicle like the FJ Cruiser.

To loyalists, only a Jeep will do.

I'm not convinced that a new Bronco will have an easy time of it.

I can't wait to see it.

They'd sell a few, it would last one model cycle, and then would never be heard from again.

I would disagree with you but I believe the above statement to be true. I do like the photos. If Ford builds it ... don't water it down.

Would be hot for 2 to 3 years to fill pent up demand. Also don't forget new Defender coming soon too.

Seems like they, or the social media types, have been showing/talking about this concept for a decade.

Message to Ford:

"Make it or kill it!"

Conversely, if Ford could bring this to market at or near $25k with a decent engine, thinking 300hp Eco-boost, and tastefully done spartan entire with some steel/aluminum pieces . . . there is a space in my driveway.

....i would like to have a Jeep Rubicon...but there is always the issue of reliability!

If the FJ was design w/ a removable top and better visibility...that would be my vehicle.

But the Bronco...never was a fan...past design is boxy boring bland...and again reliability is a big issue. When traveling off-road...YOU BETTER HAVE A VEHICLE THAT HAS NO ISSUES TO BRING YOU BACK HOME. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU BRING YOUR FAMILY!

Another option could be to make Bronco a brand of higher end SUVs and co-brand it with Lincoln.

Even with all of their faults, Jeeps are way too iconic for anyone to truly challenge them.

If anything, Jeep competes with itself. Whenever I hear Jeep competitor, I always think of the old Toyota Land Cruiser or the LR Defender or the Mercedes G-Wagon.

Bronco is the LAST vehicle on my mind when it comes to Jeep.
