BMW Introduces Limited Edition i3 Shadow Sport Edition - Is The EV Commuter Car Finally Cool?

The US division of the largest luxury automaker in the world has decided that having an eco-conscious battery electric vehicle might not be exclusive enough. So they resorted to showcasing the new i3 Shadow Sport Edition.

Specifically designed for the US market, where BMW is fighting for leadership with Mercedes-Benz and Japan’s Lexus, the i3 electric car will become even more exclusive thanks to the 50-unit limited i3 Shadow Sport Edition.

I think you have to be both a big EV fan AND a big BMW fan to consider the i3 a winner. Otherwise, the relatively high price and relatively short range make other EVs more compelling.

I have a i3 Rex and actually like the car alot. It is alot more sporty and affordable than ever expected. For me I use the car to and from work which is 65 miles everyday and so far the cost to charge the car has only been about .90 cents to $1.00 a day, which is ALOT cheaper than I expected.

and the cost is relative. I find the carbon fiber body very cool, as well as the recycled material for the interior and plus I enjoy buying something unique. I like the Tesla alot, yet that car is a cool $25k more expensive. And with all the incentives on the car the lease is incredible for 24 months ...

Ha ha ha. Looks really, really mean—I'm scared! This is hysterical and pitiful at the same time. Is this a result of the BMW/Toyota collaboration? Sure looks like the sophomoric Toyota design team took charge on this one. Ha ha ha ha.
