New UAW leadership no doubt feels heroic creating pacts with huge signing bonuses and other goodies. But that same leadership also consciously chose to mortgage future union jobs — and certainly any potential job growth — so today’s employees can cash in.

The UAW saw their peak in the 1970s. Their numbers have been declining ever since. I believe unions in the US have lived beyond their usefulness. Draw your own conclusions.

The quick settlement by the UAW--against their workers' best interests--was all about making sure dues flow to the Democrats in 2016. Labor unions are the major funding arm of the Democrats and workers who disagree with their dues being allocated that way have no recourse.

Unions need to be banned from ALL political action. "Right to work" needs to be the law of the land. If unions had to work to keep their members happy, the rank and file would have more leverage.

Unions came into prominence due to a lack of laws protecting workers.

Those laws are in place and unions no longer serve a function.

The UAW brought down GM into bankruptcy. The union bosses are so greedy and short sighted, they will repeat their stupid mistakes over and over.

but i don't blame the workers as much as their greedy criminal executives...who knowingly killed and injured more people then the recent Paris attacks, but yet NO GM execs has gone to prison!

GM execs and Obama allowed GM to payback bailout money with prior taxpayers bailout money sitting in escrow. Also, used bailout money to pay the ignition fines. NEVER USING GM PROFITS!

Forget VW, GM diesel truck pollutes more than any other manufacturing company in the world.

We already tried that and it didn't work. When many of us stopped buying GM products, GM just went bankrupt, and then the federal government borrowed billions of dollars, gave it to GM, and sent the bill to US citizens. So in essence, even when we don't buy GM products, the government still takes our money and gives it to GM. Either way, GM gets our money :-(
