Honda Moves To A More Truck Like Look For Next Gen Ridgeline - Was That All That Was Holding It Back?

Honda’s second-generation Ridgeline truck shed a few more layers of camouflage recently, as spy photographers snapped the upcoming pickup ahead of its Detroit auto show debut in January.

The shots confirm what many in the industry had been expecting -- that Honda would ditch the controversial flying buttress profile from the original Ridgeline in favor of a more traditional trucklike silhouette.

What held the Fridgeline back was ugliness, ridiculous pricing, and a lack of pickup ability.

The Ridgeline was not especially fuel efficient.

The problem with the Ridgeline was that it was NOT a truck - it was a tenderfoots vehicle- and no self respecting real truck person would be caught owning one.

This is ONE area where Ford and GM - and sometimes Chrysler - actually knew their customers - and gave them what they want - and foreign manufacturers need not apply. I do not know what market the Ridgeline was aimed at - but It (the market)clearly wasn't there once it (the Ridgeline) was available. And I believe that only a full frame Truck is going to sell well in that market.

The Ridgeline is GM Colorado and Canyon are pretend mid-size trucks.

But the Ridgeline is a Honda..so we know it will be much more reliable than any UAW/Obama/Gov't Motors POS death trap can build. I have a 2004 Pilot w/ over 230k miles on it. Stick drives great! WITH LOW MAINTANICE COST! GM ..GET RID OF POS B4 WARRANTY IS UP.
