Consumer Reports Flags 7 Most Hated Cars By Buyers - Did They Forget A Few?
Hearing from actual owners is probably the best way to judge whether or not a new car is worth your money instead of relying only on reviews and dealership info.

It's a tricky concept though because, naturally, opinions of non-professionals can differ widely. Luckily, you can weed those people out by focusing on certain things that are relevant to you personally and that would make your life better when behind the wheel.

This survey from Consumer Reports uncovered 7 new cars that people, in general, are very likely to hate because of various reasons.

Guess Nissan didn't "donate" enough $ to CR. Pretty unscientific report.

Are you saying CR had anything to do with the results other than publishing them? They simply asked for opinions and the people told them. Scientific? Nope. Accurate? Yep.

Nissans are pretty terrible for quality and reliability.

Important notes:

(1) The picture in this article does NOT reflect the "most hated" cars. In fact, it depicts the most LIKED (i.e., those that owners are likely to buy again)

(2) Although Vette71 calls this a "pretty unscientific report", it does give you owners' feedback, and lets you know particular models that left a disproportionate number of owners regretting their purchase decision. Even though this might not be "holy truth", it's worth noting, especially for people who were considering one of the identified vehicles. I was surprised to find a Mercedes on that list.

The inclusion of the CLA on this list shouldn't come as a surprise. If you really attached brain cells to it, it actually makes sense. It's an entry-level model to the brand. It's geared toward single/coupled people with no kids. What happens when it's time to get a new car? They'll want to upgrade to a C Class for more room, higher quality, and better driving experiences. In many ways, it's the perfect entry point and it's not necessarily meant for repeat buyers. Do you really think that Mercedes wants their buyers to remain at the bottom rung of their product ladder? Absolutely not. If Mercedes really wanted to build a mainstream, roomier, comfier-riding CLA, don't you think they would have (and their C-Class sales would suffer)?

That's where I think Audi may have made a mistake with the A3. It's too closely aligned to the A4 for starters, and it has more capability to keep Audi customers at the lower portion of the product range.

The Mercedes Megane is a compromised ride--yes--but it sells.

I agree on the A3.

MDarringer writes "...I agree on the A3..."

Are you agreeing the Audi A3 should be amongst the most LIKED vehicles, because 80% of owners said they would definitely buy it again? That's what the picture on this page indicates (it has nothing to do with the "most hated" article). I ask because you liking the A3 doesn't sound like what I imagine MDarringer to be about.

@TheSteve You need to learn to read. @cidflekken said "I think Audi may have made a mistake with the A3. It's too closely aligned to the A4 for starters, and it has more capability to keep Audi customers at the lower portion of the product range." I agree with that statement. The A3 is a very good reason NOT to buy an A4 and I don't think the A3 really contributes anything new to the brand like the CLA has done. The A3 also steps on the Jetta GLI for the same/similar price, so it's pretty pointless.
