Dieselgate Craters Volkswagen's November Sales - Down 24.73% For Month
Volkswagen of America, Inc. today reported sales of 23,882 units delivered in November 2015.

The November sales results reflect the impact of the recent stop-sale for all 2.0L 4-cylinder TDI vehicles as well as for the 3.0L V6. The voluntary stop-sales were issued in light of notices received by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) regarding emissions compliance.

“Volkswagen is working tirelessly on an approved remedy for the affected TDI vehicles.  During this time we would like to thank our dealers and customers for their continued patience and loyalty,” said Mark McNabb, chief operating officer, Volkswagen of America.

The newly redesigned 2016 Passat entered showrooms earlier this month. Pricing for the 2016 Volkswagen Passat starts at $22,440—the same as the outgoing base model when equipped with an automatic transmission. When new content is factored in, this represents a $1,315 value enhancement over the base 2015 Passat.

It's no surprise to me that VW's US sales cratered in November, likely due to Dieselgate. What surprises me is that European sales haven't.

Dieselgate didn't turn VW vehicles into time bombs. They're still the same overpriced cars they were before.

The only difference in the U.S. is that we're a bunch of [social] media whores who broadcast every little indiscretion with any company or person to the point of ad nauseum, causing a ripple effect with idiot consumers.

It's like when Sarah Palin started the whole 'death panel' BS with the Affordable Care Act. The repetitious fear mongering caused radical conservatives and old people to think they'd be put to sleep like dogs when visiting the doctor.

If you say it enough times people will react.

@W208...that is all great except you are missing one vital piece..accountability...if you do not lie, cheat or say dumb things in public without apologizing, you probably will not get dragged through the mud.

VW needs a stand-alone "Prius" model and a stand-alone EV ASAP like 5 years ago. I hope VW is enjoying its just desserts.

VW advised over a month ago that they are extremely low on inventory to sell & this would reflect in November's sales. I think it is more low inventory than "dieselgate." I'm sure once their inventory improves, their sales will at least go back to October's levels/numbers.
