Rumor Mill: BMW i8 Spyder Will Be Sooner Rather Than Later - Will You Be The First At The Country Club To Have One?
According to a recent interview with the new BMW chief executive officer Harald Kruger, the manager apparently confirmed the i8 Spyder concept will finally be turned into a production series model. The German was actually very coy on specific details and he only let slip the model would head to the factory relatively soon – we have no idea what timing they’re considering but it could be an auspicious period during next year as almost two years have passed since the automaker started delivering the first i8 coupe units to its clients.

Another mystery is how much of the concept will perspire to the actual production model, since the Spyder prototype featured a semi-transparent bonnet, an open top body and a sloped windscreen with an integrated spoiler – there was also a stylish rear and a shorter wheelbase.

The styling makes me think this will endure about as well as mesh shirts from the 1980s.

The i8 in coupe format is already pretty garish looking, but at least you have a roof to protect you from insults as you're trotting around town. Taking the roof off only makes you more susceptible.

Are the side windows fixed? Sort of defeats the notion of open-air motoring.

I cannot wait to see which dweeb shows up with one to the country club. This should be delightful.

This is really ugly. Its like one of the Quant family middle-school aged grandkids designed it.

When is the i8 done? It and the i3 are kind of terrible. They are too "out there". Hopefully the i5 will be more mainstream

haters will hate but i find this car to be the the most forward looking design (in a good way) and most ordinary people agree. every time i see one park, most passerby are gawking at it and snapping pics with their phones. and yes i live i a big city where ferraris are as common as porsches are in a big american city, i.e. there is atleast 1 in every parking lot.
