RENDERED SPECULATION: How Do YOU Like Me NOW? All-New Volvo S90 Given The Polestar Treatment
Last night I made sure to cover the all-new Volvo S90 extensively. That's because this model, much like the XC90, is a big deal. That's because the S90 appears to be going after the likes of the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series, Lexus GS and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
These midsize luxury sedans typically move a lot of units in volume. So, if Volvo connects with the market, maybe the niche Swedish auto builder will not have to rely on the success of its sport-utility vehicles so heavily.
Though I made sure to detail the S90's interior and exterior, I wanted to follow up with a pretty cool rendering produced this week.
X-Tomi Design took a file photo that Volvo distributed and applied some details lifted from the super rare S60 Polestar. Yes, it even gets the Rebel Blue color affectionately known as Swedish Racing Green.
So, how do you like it NOW?

Like a poledancer...the S90 is a cheap whore in search of sales.

Yes but it is a good looking cheap whore. The interior is gorgeous.

So you like the look of a Oldsmobile interior from the 90s?

Not feeling the name, and I doubt it plays well in the American market. Not as bad as FairLady, but close.

I'm willing to bet more people know what a Fairlady is than a *Porn*star.

'Polestar' is a stupid name for a performance version - just sayin' my first thought is either 'porn-star' or 'pole-dancer' - not what you want for a Volvo. I wonder if they did a focus group on this name?
"V" spec is taken already by Cadillac, "R" spec is taken by Audi.
They should pick "S" spec or "Z" spec.

I actually like the differentiation.
If they did something like "S" or "Z" it's so...meh.

Polestar is not a NEW NAME. The Swedish Touring Car Championship was created in 1996 by Swedish driver Jan "Flash" Nilsson. Volvo enthusiasts have no issue with the name and know it's significance. Especially those of us who are lucky enough to own a limited production S60 Polestar. In contrast to the opinion above, the POLESTAR has played perfectly well in the US since they sold out.

How does this not have a panoramic sunroof option?
Not ugly but very generic looking. I suppose Volvos are supposed to be boring. Its almost like looking at a VW.
