Audi re-writing the image of a sporty and luxurious car with the R8

With the new Audi R8, Audi will officially have re-written the book when it comes to a manufacturer of a sporty and luxury brand as a whole.

With the R8 Audi has a faster car from 0-60, 0-100 and through the 1/4 mile when compared to BMW. Also the R8 will be able to lap the ring faster than any BMW.

With the RS4, Audi has a faster car through the slalom at 70.6 mph than any car BMW produces.

Prices have gone beyond BMW, with the A8L 6.0 W12 coming in at $119,350 vs. $118K and change for the BMW 760Li.

So if you compare the brands as a whole, Audi wins in straight-line performance, slalom times and most importantly of all PRICE.

Logical I want to hear your plebian comments again.

The most important question however is:

WILL IT HAVE THE BEST INTERIOR IN ITS CLASS?

very good point mdalle, kind of apples to oranges here. but if thats what they have to do with audi to make it superiour we could just put up the m6 against the TT and see how fast its doors get blown off

Nope. Audi started in 1910, three years before BMW. Horch, its precursor, started in 1899, fourteen years before BMW. They were the first European car company to offer a V8, which is a lot more than BMW can offer.

"If i drove up in an R8, half the crowd wouldn't have the faintest idea what car i am talking about, they do with the Ferrari!"

Yes, but I'm sure you'd get even more looks if you drove up in an R8. That car is stunning. It speaks for itself.

We'll see how good it is when it's introduced in three days.

=======================================

BMW first offered a V8 in their cars in 1954 (the 502).

When did Audi's appear?

The Audi R8 is one of the most anticipated luxury coupes. After it's release there won't be a question in the minds of Americans whether or not Audi is in the same league as BMW or MB (no one else around the world questions this).

You're way off base in saying Audi doesn't have pedigree. The company's origins go way, way back.

Audi ALWAYS follows:

So, if they have been around longer with a focus on cars (BMW had planes and motorcycles as well), why don't they sell more vehicles?

Strange....must have had some setbacks somewhere along the way.

Audi fans love to compare new cars with competitor cars that are years older..it's the only way to assuage their frail egos and to make them feel better....
