UAW Scores Big Win For Unionization Of Skilled Workers At VW Chattanooga Plant

The United Auto Workers has won a union vote among skilled-trades workers at Volkswagen’s lone U.S. assembly plant in Tennessee.

The workers who specialize in repairing and maintaining machinery and robots at the German automaker’s factory in Chattanooga voted 108-44, or 71 percent, to have the UAW negotiate collective bargaining deals on their behalf.

The vote comes nearly 20 months after the union was narrowly defeated in an election involving all hourly plant employees.

Ray Curry, director of UAW Region 8 covering the South, commended Volkswagen employees for exercising their rights in a representation election.

Hope they take the approach of their peers in Germany. Could help with wages (driving the local economy up as a side benefit), better production lines, quality improvements etc... normally people closest to the work know what needs to be done in those areas. If they act in partnership with the engineers and management it could be a good thing, will be interesting to follow,

Check your spelling, I am sure you meant Union is Santa, this being the holiday season and all.

@valhallakey yes it is Santa in the sense that if has found new people to be forced into the union that they then cash rape and send money to the Democrats.

I'd be OK with unions if membership--by law--was voluntary.
I'd be OK with unions if they were banned from all political action and confined ONLY to bargaining workplace issues.

That is not what unions are about.

Who says Chattanooga will be around in two years? The Chat plant will be one of the first to go when VW implodes.
