Marchionne Considers Bringing Alfa Romeo Back To Formula One
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles could bring the Alfa Romeo brand back to Formula One as a competitor to Ferrari, CEO Sergio Marchionne said.

"It's incredible how the Alfa marque remains in people's hearts," Marchionne, who is also Ferrari chairman, told reporters in an end-of-season news conference at the Italian team's Maranello headquarters.

"For that very reason we are thinking about bringing it back, as our competitor, to racing, to Formula One. It's important for Alfa to return."

Formula One may help some in Europe - but is unlikely to help in the USA - because their cars are so unlike real cars. Alfa would need a Non-Ferrari based engine - and they don't have one for F1. A waste of money in my eyes.

This is as likely as me becoming an F1 driver at my advanced age. He is just blowing smoke out his ass to create a buzz around Alfa Romeo. The guy is bleeding cash, failed to have someone step up and buy him based on his GM ruse and is desperate to establish Alfa and Fiat marks. If not for Dodge and Jeep he would be spinning off brands. The cost of F1
annual budget is well beyond his means.
