Could Genesis Actually Close In On Maybach With This Extended Wheelbase G90?

Could Genesis Actually Close In On Maybach With This Extended Wheelbase G90?
The latest spy shots from our collaborating photographers reveal a completely camo-free Genesis G90 with an extended wheelbase. Since the regular body of the G90 is 5,205 mm long, enough to almost match a long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the extended version of the South-Korean limo could be coming close to the Maybach’s 5.4 meters.

The Koreans at Hyundai could go for something in between the LWB S-Class and the Maybach S-Class, considering that the front and rear overhangs don’t seem extended.

Wow, someone here is really delusional. Only people who would use it is the Korean govt because they get them for free.

The Genesis might close in on the Mercedes S-Class Maybach Edition in only the most superficial ways, such as having 4 wheels and its overall length. But in terms of being a similar vehicle, today's Genesis is still not in the same league as MB's flagship.

On a personal level, from what I see in these photos, the profile and rear end do indeed look like a true luxury car, but the front end most certainly does not.

This mundane, derivative car will only come close to any S-Class or Maybach if it parked close to it. Not in prestige. Not in cache. Certainly not in design. Absolutely not in performance. Sure, it may have a better ride quality, but you can get a Buick or Lincoln for that.
At least the current Genesis comes 80% of looking the part of a premium car, and even that car is handsome in a dull kind of way and completely derivative of many other cars' designs. Its paint quality (in terms of lustre and premium look) is well below par and justifies it sub-premium price tag.

A used German car is a better value than anything from Korea that thinks its luxury.

Resale value of the Germans is inflated by their CPO programs and buyers who swallow the line that German cars hold their value. Go beyond the CPO lot and the depreciation is staggering.

I'd rather have a 1999 7 series (the 007 one) over anything Hyundai would try to pass as luxury.

Just noticed the blurb up top said "The Koreans at Hyundai". More likely "the overpaid Germans that the Koreans at Hyundai hired..."
