BMW To Slot New 9 Series Between 7 Series And Roll Royce Silver Ghost
BMWs seemingly not taking Tesla lightly since word from Automobile is that two new sedans…*ahem*…one sedan, and one “four-door coupe” are on the way to join BMW’s lineup for the first time ever.

First is the four-door coupe, which is a bounce off of some previous rumors about a new 9-Series large four-door coupe from BMW. It would be more or less based off of the 2014 Vision Future Concept with hints of the BMW Gran Lusso Coupe from Pininfarina.

The idea is to have the car be positioned within the market between the 7-Series and the Rolls-Royce Ghost. Talk about niche filling since there really isn’t a market for large four-doors with a cost of around $120,000 to start aside from some high-end Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7-Series variants. But the idea is to have a car that’s “above” those cars to begin with.

If BMW produced a sedan based on "the 2014 Vision Future Concept with hints of the BMW Gran Lusso Coupe from Pininfarina" and did it faithfully, they would be on to something.

The sin of the 7 Series is that it does not look new aside from the chrome hockey stick down the side.

Hmmm...something tells me BMW doesn't have quite what it takes to compete in the 6 figure arena, the interior would have to be drastically different that Bimmer's current design language to even hold a candle to the Maybach S, Rolls, and Bentley, secondly the 7 series will most certainly fall victim to the 9 series sales wise as the 7 currently isn't distinctive enough

bmw doesn't have what it takes to compete in the 6 figure arena? you do know BMW literally owns rolls royce right?

once can argue they know more about that arena than most other manufacturers...

So...basically, a sedan to take on the Mercedes-Maybach.

This picture on this page looks like it's following the organic lines and deep creases styling direction that Hyundai forged. I'm not a fan of it.

But the new 9 series will look just like the 7 series which looks just like the 5 series which looks just like the 4 series which looks just like the 3 series which looks just like the 2 series.

Agree. That is their issue and arguably Mercedes is no better. The Maybach looks like an S class. The new E Class looks like an S Class, ditto the C Class. Let's not even start on Audi. The Germans have precious little styling imagination. Every time BMW gets adventurous we get bloody hemorrhoids like the Bangle atrocities and the i3/i8. When Mercedes gets imaginative drug dealers, pimps, low-end ballers, low-end rappers, and low-end people like the Kardashians rejoice.

delan, you need to check out jameswisrik for saltiness. And if I may say with complete humility, I'm merely the most-intelligent and best-looking man on the planet.
