RENDERED SPECULATION: IF The All-New Audi Q5 Looks Like THIS, Would You Give It A Thumbs UP or DOWN?

RENDERED SPECULATION: IF The All-New Audi Q5 Looks Like THIS, Would You Give It A Thumbs UP or DOWN?
It was only days ago that Audi formally announced that 2016 would bring forward two all-new products. First will be an all-new Q2 that we expect to continue lowering the barrier of entry into the Audi brand. Second is an all-new Q5 to replace the very-long-in-the-tooth current-gen Q5 sport-utility vehicle.

But, how will it look?

Given the way we've been seeing Audi attack all-new product launches with their design, we're thinking this will continue down the road of being an evolution rather than a revolution. The reality is that the German automaker has been doing a lot of work underneath the sheetmetal.

Just a guess here, but maybe the company is focusing its research & development costs on its vehicles better driving dynamics and lightening the load rather than sexy and innovative design. Case in point: the all-new Q7, which weighs less and boasts a tremendous amount of technology.

Having said that, our friends abroad have put together some renderings based on educated speculation. That said, IF the all-new Audi Q5 looks like the image, would YOU be interested in it or is it a PASS?

What say you, Spies?

Umm—they're going a little overboard with that grille, no? It's really becoming an eyesore. This is an example of not knowing where to go with a design theme.

Totally agree. It's just overdone while everything remains the same. And then there's Dieselgate

Thumbs down! It looks like a cheap car trying to look pricey or nice.

It looks think and pudgy like some sort of belly-scratching German bubba. If you simply must drive an Audi, lease one for no longer than the warranty.

The original purpose of a cow-catcher grill was to SHOO a cow off the railroad tracks. It now appears that the purpose is to have a big enough "mouth" for the cow to be eaten!

Spy shots suggests a less radical change than this rendering speculation, but either way, it's a thumbs-down vote from me. The protruding 3D grill and the "design by ruler" theme both do it in for me. It makes me so glad I got a 2015 MY Q5.

The Q5 is one of Audi's top sellers, so the public's reception does matter to Audi. We'll see if this redo is good for Audi's sales or not. I really dislike Lexus's styling, and yet they have strong sellers, so my styling tastes obviously don't speak for a lot of people.

Why is it many of these car companies are going to these HUGE ugly front grills. Lexus has it on their SUVs, Audi now and some of the other companies too, feel compelled to have the whole front end look like some sewer opening.

Back to the drawing board Audi on this one.

I'm not a fan of these oversized grills on some of the luxury brands (Audi, Lexus, Lincoln, et al) - they look odd and are distracting.
