DRIVEN: What Happens When You Take The Jaguar F-Type R, Mazda MX-5 Miata And Porsche Boxster Spyder And Drive Them Together?
When we look back into 2015, it was a year full of outstanding products. But, there were a few standouts when you speak to the automotive press.

As this bunch is the enthusiastic type, it should comes as no surprise that two-seat roadsters are in the crosshairs. Granted, overall, the category is not selling nearly as much volume as it used to move out of showrooms.

Regardless, three autos that I saw plenty of writing and speaking about were the Jaguar F-Type R convertible, the Mazda MX-5 and the Porsche Boxster Spyder.

Well, what's one more story to add on top of the pile?

Our friends at U.K.-based Autocar brought all three together and took them out for a drive on the same roads in a reflective piece. Although I've clued you in on how the story ends, it's a particularly good read for this time of year.

The MX-5 is cheaper, the F-Type showier – both, in their own way, entirely fit for purpose when the rain stops and the mood takes you. But the Spyder is something else. In a year when Porsche reconfirmed its superlative reputation with a string of five-star reviews, the costliest Boxster stands alongside the Cayman GT4 and 911 GT3 RS as one of the finest performance cars you can buy.

You won’t need to drive it to Skye and back to discover that fact, but –? and believe me on this – you’ll definitely want to. Bravo, Stuttgart, and happy Christmas.

You realize the Miata is slower than hell and that only clusterscrewed fanboys take it seriously. You realize the F Type would be difficult to live with as your daily car. You realize that the Porsche is a balls-to-the-wall sports car that can "do" the 405 in rush hour traffic as perfectly as a Camry, but if you had brains, you'd do a Cayman.
