LEAKED? Are These Patent Images Showing Us The Next-Gen Honda Odyssey?
Although many new buyers of all-new vehicles have decided to abandon minivans and opt for sport-utility vehicles, that doesn't mean that vans aren't getting developed. Take, for example, the Honda Odyssey. Though the latest generation product has been out and about since the 2011 model year, it's time to start thinking about an all-new replacement.

Thanks to all-new, leaked images care of Paul Tan we've got a slew of three-dimensional pictures of what may possibly be the U.S.-bound Odyssey.

I have some hesitation merely because this looks exactly like the Chinese market Dongfeng Honda Elysion, but there's no reason why it couldn't be put for sale on the U.S. market. And, judging from the design traits, this certainly looks like a minivan that would match the company's latest design language.

So, what say YOU, Spies? IF you were a betting man/woman, would you say this is the next-gen Odyssey?

These recent patent images published by Japan’s patent office reveal what the US-spec Honda Odyssey could possibly look like once the fifth-generation model debuts there sometime in 2017. If the design looks familiar, that is because it closely resembles the China-only Dongfeng Honda Elysion.

In fact, we dare say that the patent images mirrors the design seen on the Toyota Alphard/Vellfire-rivalling seven/eight-seater MPV that was previewed by Honda’s Concept M from 2013. This includes the full-LED Jewel Eye headlights, generous application of chrome on the grille and door handles and black accents...

Not sure how I feel about the crazy chrome grille making its way from Acuras over to our Hondas. Wish it didn't. It's not as beaky but it's still garish.

Dimensionally, it looks too small for the NA market. And the trend with new Hondas (Civic, Pilot, HRV) has been less-than-conservative taillights, and these are pretty tame. The front-end looks appropriate (unfortunately), but I think this is for a different market

Looks quite a bit smaller than the Odyssey.

Americans don't care for small MPV's. They'll just get a CUV as a compromise.

How can a vehicle simultaneously be dull and featureless and also garish and busy? Oh I know. They used separate design teams for the face side and tail and then just smashed them together. But hey, at least it doesn't have the stupid window line.

Don't know why you're getting these downvotes. Japanese vehicles have had this mixed design language for a while. Front is all crazy and/or aggressive, and the rest looks completely vanilla. Lexus and Toyota are out of control with that even in the US market and it seems this Odyssey is starting to close the gap.
