The Top 5 Things To KNOW About The All-New Tesla Model X
A friend of AutoSpies recently penned a piece for SeekingAlpha and is making some seriously good points about the all-new Tesla Model X. While we believe it will be the "IT" car of 2016 and the "must have" for those looking for the latest and greatest, there are some all-new, never investigated or mentioned concerns surrounding the product.

Take, for example, the vehicle's sheer dimensions. As it hasn't made its way into the public eye yet, we've only seen images and videos. Well, it turns out that it's 81.6 inches wide. To put that in perspective, that's wider than a Hummer H2. Will garages be big enough?

Another example. If the vehicle's 12 volt battery is not operational, the rear Falcon doors will not open from the outside. That means your rear seat occupants will have to know they must remove the rear speaker cover and pull a release hatch to open the doors. Considering buyers of the Chevrolet Corvette have died when its emergency release hatches are CLEARLY marked, is this going to be a problem for Tesla's family audience?

Let us know your thoughts, Spies!

Tesla Model X is 81.6 inches wide, which is wider than Hummer H2, Cadillac Escalade and Ford F-150. Do buyers want a car wider than those?

If the 12 volt battery is out, such as perhaps in a fire, Tesla’s emergency response guide says that the Falcon Wing doors cannot be opened from the outside.

To open the Falcon Wing doors, you must remove the speaker grill covers in the Falcon Wing doors and find and move a release hatch the right way.

Will you - or your child - remember or even have time to conduct this operation before the fire has taken its toll?

It may be safer to use the space behind the front seats to transport goods instead of people. The market for such delivery vans is a respectable one.

00R, your friend, Anton Wahlman is a well-known Tesla hater, probably lost money on shorting TSLA, something that he continues to do, so he has an axe to grind, spewing hate and spreading FUD.

From the 'comments' section of the "Zero-Hedge" article...

You have no idea how dangerous these cars really are. I'm a tech at a dealership, when we have to service any part of the car that is connected to the high voltage battery, we have to put up barriers around the car, cones and a big warning sign on the car not to touch it while being serviced. i have to wear not one but 2 pairs of 1000 volt rated insulated gloves, safety glasses, remove all jewlery, and have to be wearing shoes with rubber soles. the last tool i am supposed to have handy is what we call "the dead tech hook" which is a 10 foot long plastic pole with a big hook on the end so your coworkers can pull your freshly charcoaled corpse off of the car without getting electrocuted themselves.

Oh, and once one of these battery packs short circuits and catches fire there is no way to put it out unless you happen to have a fire truck handy- a fire extinguisher wont touch it, and the fire will reignite soon as you stop spraying it. you have to wiat for it to burn itself out.

He is NOT a Tesla hater. He is a realist.

He IS a Tesla hater. If you can point me to a single positive thing he has ever written about Tesla I would love to read it. If you too believe that Tesla has no redeeming qualities, then that also makes you a Tesla hater.

I believe it'll be a blip, a flash in the pan without endurance, meaningful market or unit sales. Let's see who's right a couple of years down the road.

Per the Wall Street Journal there are 20,000 customers who made a down payment on the model X still waiting for them. At 238 X's produced per week it will take more than 1 1/2 years to satisfy them. The customer mentioned paid a $40,000 deposit which means when it is delivered Tesla will have to recognize heavily discounted revenue. For sure the $40K has been spent. The guy says Tesla is the worst company he has ever dealt with.

To Musk's credit his Space X did get a booster rocket to return and land able to be reused. Do that 10 times in a row and he really has something. The issue with Tesla is he is taking on a mature established industry where customers have expectations about how the products perform and a small company will have trouble meeting all those expectations. One big recall could kill the company.

Tesla already showed up the industry with their previous models, the question now, can they be caught.
