BMW M3 vs. Audi S4 vs. Mercedes C32 AMG Review

Today, I bring you a dated but still very interesting video review. The test was done between the BMW M3, Audi S4 and Mercedes C32 AMG. The ending is very interesting and probably correct.

Actually nothing new here to the educated buyer. The S4 out performed both the C32AMG and M3. This has been proven in more than one independent comparison test.

The interesting thing was it was pulled from a Benz site. It would NEVER have been posted to a BMW blog.

Yeah, I agree with Plano. The Audi S4, while not as involving to drive as say the BMW M3, the S4 doesn't feel as if it is in a rush all the time. It can go, but it can also be as civilized as you want it to be in the middle of rush hour traffic. The M3 always has a sense of urgency to it and never feels relaxed.

Plus, the S4 offers Quattro AWD for better traction and stability for when the roads get wet and/or icy. If you were to race the M3 against an S4 in the snow, the M3 would probaby spin-out and you would ram into a tree. Meanwhile the S4 would be doing pretty fine.

BMW M3 for the track-minded enthusiast who doesn't care about driving in bad weather conditions and just wants to drive

The Audi S4 for the buyer who wants speed, civility and the ability to go fast even when the weather gets bad.

Edmunds says almost the same exact thing.

Thanks for sharing that with us.
Summary:
Sprint: S4 dead last behind the C32 AMG and the M3
Comfort and Luxury: M3 dead last behind C32 AMG and S4
Overall construction: S4 is supreme.

The producers chose S4 over the rest- each has it's own relative strength.

@admiral

Thanks for the summary, but watching it is much more fun. And plus why do you have to spoil it for people.

The S4 is a really nice car, but I would still buy the M3 if I had money of course.

Elsup,
Apologies, didn't mean to spoil the fun for others.
I will try not sum things up next time.

this is all moot since there is no longer a C32 AMG. it is now the C55 AMG.

when do ppl race in the snow or pouring rain?? is the Audi a better overall vehicle through the 4 seasons - probably... but I hate how people keep saying that Audi is better car just because you can whip out of the corners even when it's wet... even for enthusiasts, who really corners that fast when it's snowing or raining?? and trust me, you can't - my gf has an 2002 A4 and it spun out last winter on black ice despite having Quattro and winter tires... and she was only going 50 km/hr...

And the 528i ISN'T boring?

You must live on some other planet.

MDalle-

S4 has won in numerous comparisons, because although the M3 is more of a purist's car, the S4 is just better overall. And the RS4 is pretty hard to beat- it will be close.

Since when does the age of the car matter? The old B5 S4 was out, and it was trumped by the M3; the B6 S4 came out two years later and equalled the M3. That's like saying the only reason the next M3 will be better than the RS4 is because it's newer.

Wahoo, finally a positive review for my S4. I just completed smoked a Honda TL on the freeway yesterday. I am feeling really good about myself right now!

Logical you have to accept the fact that when it comes to interiors you lose. Yes, the style and design can be subjective, but the materials quality, layout, ergonomics and fit and finish are not something that can be argued.

Audi clearly wins in interiors and BMW wins in driving dynamics.

There is a trade-off, understand that.

Logical, the R8 is a souped up, tin-can version of what?

Your logic can now say that the Gallardo is a souped-up, tin can version of the Audi.

logical-

When did I say I was replacing my baby with a lowly 3 Series? In two years, when I give my A3 to my SON, I will buy a 328xi coupe or 335xi sedan AS MY WINTER CAR (or secondary car). The G35X may sway me, though, and I may even get an S4 Avant as a secondary car.

With the money I make for being able to afford a souped-up Volkswagen, I'm buying my wife a Jaguar XJ8, which I'm sure you'll pass up as a re-badged Ford, right?
