SPIED: All-New Pictures Of The Next-Gen BMW 5-Series + NEW Details!

...Recent prototypes photographed testing on public roads in Germany reveal that the new 5 Series has gained an evolutionary exterior styling update, with cues lifted from the Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupé concept car first shown at the 2013 Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance in Italy. Its traditional three-box silhouette is retained. However, a more heavily raked rear window and sloping boot deck provide it with a sleeker profile and more shapely rear end than today’s model.

As part of efforts to significantly improve its aerodynamics, the new 5 Series adopts a more prominent kidney grille with louvres that open when the engine requires cooling and close again to improve airflow around the front end. I DID miss the headlights touching the grille. I think the designers should get a raise!

The opportunity of BMW and Audi standing still and letting their new designs arrive dated looking is that it creates the perfect vacuum for someone to fill with a stylish sedan. The CT6 will arrive dead because it (1) does not look special in any way and (2) most will assume it's a CTS.

If marketed well, the Genesis G90 could definitely get some sales from BMW/Audi standing still, but if Lincoln's marketing and finance arms burn the midnight oil, I could see buyers of the BMW 5 or the Audi A6 going with something utterly swanky looking.

BMW is dumb as bricks with their current styling.

The debut of a new model like the 5 series or E class used to be more exciting. Something tells me we are only at the beginning stages of an era where interior/tech innovation eclipses innovation in exterior designs.

it takes about 15 years for bmw to come up with substantially different designs... wake me up in 2030, bmw designs are soporific at best.
