#NAIAS: Looking Back, Do You WISH Some Of These Vehicles Made It To Production?
One thing I love about AutoSpies and Agent 001 is that when he goes to an auto show and snaps away, the photographs don't disappear. Unlike me, 001 doesn't delete his pictures from show to show, or car to car.
Essentially, 001's images go into "the vault." This means that he has a huge archive of years gone by and the autos that have come and went.
Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) Preview
Looking back at the previous Detroit Auto Shows there's no question that there were some stellar debuts. Thing is, not all of the vehicles made the cut. For a variety of reasons cars don't get built.
The good thing is that retrospect is 20/20. Having said that, take a peek through some of 001's great pictures and let us know: Do YOU wish that some of these concepts made it to production?

Hands-down, the Chrysler Imperial. Fantastic concept, would have made a great full size car (notch larger than the 300) to be coveted by Mopar-inclined senior citizens everywhere.
Side-bar editorial - boy, that Mercedes Ocean Drive concept just looks cheap and silly now. MB just tarted up the 2008 S-Class and threw it out there. There is no "foreshadowing" of future with that one. I liked it 6 years ago, but it looks really dated.

I nearly said the Imperial, but it did not age well in my jaundiced opinion. Now the chances of an Imperial have to be ZERO with Alfa Romeo and Maserati both stupidly aimed at the same segment.
That said, if the Continental is successful in articulating American Luxury and reasserting it as a viable option to German Premium, FCA may need to scramble.

Also, the Ocean Drive looks Kardashian/Kanye ghetto bling designed for people with taste only in their mouth.

Many of these concepts were designed for pure shock value. Some even make the new Prius and Toyota Mirai look handsome. Although fun to look at, maybe we should be thankful that most of these oddballs died before production.
