#NAIAS: FIRST REAL-LIFE Pics Of The All-New Mercedes-Benz E-Class — Is The E A STUD or DUD?
Tonight kicked off the start of the 2016 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) and rather than waste time going to the other soirees, we stuck to what interested us most. That would be the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
While we've been anticipating the all-new E for quite some time, our excitement has grown exponentially since we started getting teased and the official images started making their way onto the 'net.

Now we got to see it in the flesh for the first time. Rather than editorialize though, we're looking for YOUR thoughts. That's because we know our audience consists of
the
tastemakers with serious purchasing power.
If you were looking for the BEST real-life pics of the all-new E-Class, Agent 001 did not let you down. He snapped it in a full 360 degrees from the outside and even nabbed its interior. We'll be sure to get MORE details over the next two days.
Having said that though, we want you to take a look at the first batch of real-life, Mercedes-Benz E-Class pics and let us know:
Is the all-new E a STUD or a DUD?

I say stud. At first I was bummed because of the C and S similarity but then it dawned on me that nobody complain about a family that has good genetics and perhaps 3 good looking siblings that resemble each other.
Maybe that is a simplistic way to look at it, but I think hot is hot.

Unfortunately, this is not good genetics. This must be the ugly mutation taken over. I love Benz, E-Class especially. But very disappointed in this generation. Looks like the cheaper CLA and C-class, and hate to buy a S-Class. The interior is very nice, but you buy a BENZ to let people know you have arrived!
There is nothing special about this E-class...looks like a midsize sedan built by buick 10yrs ago. Boring boring...Boring. SMH that a company like Mercedes would ever produce this bubble design with their heritage..shame on Mercedes!

I say neither. WE are already accustomed to this look from the S and c classes so it is nothing more than just another Mercedes looking Mercedes. THe interior - although I would skip the white one - is a looker though

The grandiose scale of the S-Class gives it a pretty big presence. The stubby tail and long hood of the C-Class gives it a bit of character. This E is missing character and presence. It's just....there. Even the current E looks like a million bucks. Maybe the AMG-Sport version will help things out.
The interior is incredible, so definitive stud in that respect.

Nice! Lots of presence - looks similar to but not exactly like the "C" class - appears to be noticeably larger than C Class.
It is by far the best-proportioned of the vehicles (S, C, and E) that share this "look". The S-Class, while handsome, looks porky and bloated from some angles and a bit oddly proportioned. The E-Class has the proportions and detailing just right to make the most of this look.
I wonder what the mid-cycle refreshed S-Class is going to look like? The 2010 refresh really improved on some of the prior generations weak points - hopefully MB will do the same with the refresh that should be coming out this fall. The S-Class needs some remedial attention.

No surprises. The pics of the white E 350e sedan, with emblem on the hood, the grille looks too large. The grey E 400 sedan, with the emblem on the grille, looks a lot better.

Dud! MB could have done a better job making this car standout from an S or C Class. The interior and the tech are outstanding.

Problem is the CLA and C class..has so many issues...and now the E-class looks sooo low rent! use to be lawyers and doctors drive MB...now I see ghetto trailers driving C , CLA and now unfortunately the E! it will hit the bulleye w/ the ghetto trailers.

To whoever said "looks like S-Class," sorry but you're wrong. This is the S-Class "mini me!" Total lack of identity. Been there, done that; continue the one sausage, many sizes strategy.

The new C-Class already looks like an S-Class, especially from a distance and this one only adds to confusion.

its nice and classy, just looks too much like an S class but since when was that a bad thing ?
this car is benz bread and butter, nothing wrong with playing it safe. the people who drive this car play it safe and wouldn't want anything too extreme anyway. that interior is an A+

Is it just me or does others also feel that the E-class started losing its identity after the late 80s 300E (W124). I have owned every generation since then, and currently have two 2011 E350 wagons (W212). In my opinion, the pre-refresh W212 wagons look better in proportion and presence compared to sedans. This E-class looks like Megan Fox with some plastic surgery that went haywire. A bit of squarish old Mercedes character would have helped a lot. Mercedes should stop making E-class compete with Hyundai Genesis and focus on its own character and presence. The interior definitely is a significant improvement and much better than Genesis shown elsewhere in the newsletter.
