#NAIAS: We're NOT Through Yet — Does The Lincoln Continental's INTERIOR Make Your Grade?
If there's one thing that matters to car buyers, it's the exterior design of an automobile. That's because automobiles have always been status symbols. You want to show the Joneses and your colleagues at the office that you've made it? Make sure to roll up in a slick set of wheels.

But, BUT, if you're in something of the luxury persuasion, the vehicle is expected to deliver a sumptuous experience. If it doesn't, well, then there's a chance that sales will flounder.

Need further proof? As we've pointed out previously, the Tesla Model S is a vehicle that's made significant headway due to its large screen that lives on the center stack. People care about these things!

So, after spending some time in the all-new Lincoln Continental, I started wondering if the Linc's interior was up to par. Only one way to find out! Inquire with the automotive landscapes' tastemakers.

This is where you come in.

What do YOU make of the Continental's interior? Is it beating, tying with or losing to the competition?

There's "something" that's common to many (but not all) American car interiors that just doesn't say "I'm kickin' it with the Big Three luxury brands" for me. That's not to say it's bad at all. It just doesn't trigger "world class luxury" in my biased synapses.

btw ...only 2 true luxury brands. Benz and Lexus!

but recently...the e and s-class...look cheap due to their similiar design to the c and cla!

@ TheSteve: Simple, American luxury cars are designed for fat people.

I am with you TheSteve. As much as I want this to be a good thing for Lincoln and American luxury, here we have a car that tries hard (I also like the blue interior and the high door handles) but falls short in many little ways making you think more of Fusion and even Explorer than Lincoln's now top of the line. Take for instance the interior treatment right about the windshield. Shades and lights fixture look cheap

Sorry - bu the three Luxury Brands are Mercedes,Rolls, and Bentley. Lexus is second tier - as is Infinity and Buick - and Volvo. And while this car may not blow the socks off of cars well above its price range - it competes quite well in the mid-$50,000 range it will be in. It certainly is a huge step up from the Lincoln Town Cars that people will finally be trading in.

ITS problem is the Buick LaCrosse - which will likely in higher line trim - be much less expensive.

By the way - those cut up front seats are for the 40 adjustment power seats - and I will admit that they can be adjusted for almost anyone (For a Luxury car buyer)

This interior started growing on me from the moment I saw it. Especially like the blue leather package. It takes balls to put out an interior like that!

I think it's bad ass. Look at the pattern in the leather. I see they copied the speaker design from the S Class. They put in the tft screen for the instrument cluster. The wood and leather look up to par. The only thing this car is missing is the tv's in the seat backs. It takes balls to bring that full blue interior to market, the only other company that does that is Porsche.
I think this interior is great...especially for Lincoln.

Doesn't do it for me. Might feel differently if I saw it in person. If this is much more expensive than $50k, I just don't see it competing well as the competition is fierce.

I had high hopes for this car. I haven't tried a car with push button gear changes ( P, D, N, R). But, I'm not sure they lazy part of me wouldn't want my arm to go up and down in parallel parking situations and looking for a button vs feel of a shift lever/column

I'm sure it has autopark so all you'll have to do is take your hands off the wheel and let it park itself.

The blue with the adjustable head rest reminds me of the last United Airlines flight I was on.

once again, sitting in the backseat as I am driven from the airport, The dash won't matter, unless you are a limo driver. Not a premium car at all, just a puffy cushy interior that should work for the 40 minute drive from the airport

I'm sorry but which mid $50K auto is going to be threatened by this??? The interiors of the outgoing 5series/Q70/E class/A6 put this to shame and they're all 6 year old designs. This is DOA once the rest of the competitors join the E Class in releasing their upcoming redesigns in the next 12-18 months.
