#NAIAS: How Do YOU Like Me Now? The BEST Real-Life Shots Of The All-New Acura Precision Concept Shows A NEW Design Future
Acura has been a brand pushing rather meh designs for quite some time now. Although Agent 001 and I have spoke at length about cars like the Legend and the 2008 TL Type S — the latter we believe was one of the best looking sedans produced ever — overall we've felt that Acura hasn't been on the upswing.

Yes, the company moves units due to its connection with Honda and a loyal fan base, but is the organization pushing the boundaries of the possible? No.

It seems like recently though there's been a bit of fire in the oven. With the debut of the all-new NSX, MDX and TLX, the company making some positive noise. So, what's ahead for the future? Check out the all-new Precision Concept.

This vehicle is said to provide a glimpse of what's coming down the 'pike from a design perspective. That means, for the first time, we're seeing an Acura future without the beak. Now the vehicle sports a wide-mouth front grille and a lot of angular lines.

It's a very aggressive design that looks like Acura is ready to shed its "soap bar" look and go for something more polarizing like Lexus' new look. To me, this is exciting and a big step forward.

BUT, what say YOU, Spies? How do YOU like the all-new Acura Precision Concept?

Honda needs V8

Nope - the days of needing a V-8 in this size of car is gone - especially when you can get a V-6 Twin Turbo that has more power than the V-8. THe problems that Acura has - 1 - THe interior is a non-starter - will never get into a production car. 2 - In this class - "class" is what sells - and is why Audi still sells that same styling it has had for years. WHile they needed to do something at Audi - something more "timeless" - like the ElMiraj - would be more appropriate - and would sell better.

If they can productionize this faithfully like Lexus did with the LC500, I think this would be a game-changing vehicle.

If this were a vehicle larger than the TLX with a base price of $50K, I'd say bye bye RLX.

Beautiful, as long as they keep the original design, not like Lincoln that watered down the new Continental...

Acura needs to debut a flagship model based on this car immediately with a brand new name. They can't afford to kill the buzz like they did with the NSX and they cannot link this to the RLX.

I like the direction Acura's is going with this but they still need to remain tasteful in their approach. I applaud Lexus for going balls-out with the LC500, but some of the design elements are just over the top and unnecessary. I feel like Acura became gun-shy again after they tried to take a bold direction with the 4G TL and it wasn't overly successful. They need to take the risk, even the risk of losing money, but they need to get something out there that will jostle everyone's perception about the brand.

Still not liking that "Cadillac on Steroids" styling. Flat surfaces and straight lines didn't last from the 1980s; I doubt forms from this flat fashion movement will endure, either.

Agreed. This origami styling is an Asian trend that cannot last. Nobody gives a shit about their goofy "wind whisking through the elm leaves before the crouching tiger pounces" design concepts. Just produce innovative cars and dump the overwrought design clichés!

Loving it! Put an Infiniti Q50 or Tesla interior in there and put this thing into production EXACTLY the way it is!

I agree with you. This is a great design from Acura. The front is bold and aggressive without being over the top like Lexus has done. The side profile is muscular yet elegant. The rear is probably the part I like the least, but it's still a huge improvement over the RLX.

Acura needs to make this model as a true flagship positioned against the 7-series and call it the Legend. Then update the RLX with this design language to compete with the 5-series, and go from there. Acura's CUV's always sell well so I would keep the focus on the sedans for the time being. When they do eventually update the MDX, I'd like to see it get a bit bigger in size and then have the RDX be the mid-range model and a new model come in to be the compact CUV.
