Why Are Buyers Still Flocking Into Audi Showrooms Inspite Of Dieselgate?

Audi of America President Scott Keogh took a moment today to apologize to customers in the wake of an emissions scandal that has engulfed its parent company, Volkswagen, and said Audi's top focus this year is to rebuild trust even as the luxury brand's sales remain better than ever.

Audi sold more than 200,000 cars and SUVs last year for the first time in its history in the U.S. It was an 11.1% increase over the brand's sales in 2014.

Actually - YOU should go to an Audi dealer to find out why. IF you are looking for a particular Audi - you are likely to get the very Best deal that you will EVER get for the cars. Since fewer Luxury cars were sold in the USA with Diesel Engines - the scandal was mostly on smaller VW models. Americans buy gas engine Audi's mostly - and they so far have not been affected - although WHY the EPA has not tested those cars for software "problems" is a real question for me.

As mentioned mos who buy Audi probably don;t know it's part of VW. Especially the chavs in UK, no class, crass, or more money than sense, to my mind those who drive Audi have no class, especially the way they drive..

Audi offers excellent interiors, great technology and most buyers have no idea that Audi is owned by Volkswagen.

Love my S6 and the quality craftsmanship interior. They all try to cheat somehow on gas or mileage ratings. Just a few years back we had Honda and Toyota were miscalculating their MPGs and were slapped on the wrist.

The reason? Diesels aren't usually top of mind when going into an Audi dealership to buy or lease a car. Customers don't readily associate Audi with diesels like they do VW.

Those that are buying diesels either do not care or are hoping for some kind of payout in the future.

'Inspite of'??

There's no such word as 'Inspite.'

Jeez, there are so many misspellings, grammatical errors and poor word choices on this site all the time...

It's really time you considered having someone proofread your writing before it gets posted. Writing isn't your strong suit.

"Inspite" is two words.

Welcome to the National Enquirer.

Audi's discounts are cataclysmic.

Drive onto an Audi lot and they will make the numbers work.

MDarringer - it might be where you are. but I don't see any additional discounts in the Toronto area. All the luxury brands put about the same amount of cash on the hoods or very similar percentage rate offers.
IMO if people like the brand they'll buy in. I drive by a dealership everyday to/from work and there's always people inside. Not sure if they're buying or visiting friends, but there's traffic.
But since diesels are only about 7% of Audi sales in N.A., I really don't think dieselgate is an issue.

I am American and I know who the parent company of Audi is. I own 3 Audi's and one of them happens to be a TDI that has the software installed. I starting looking at Audi's after running up on a S4 on interstate 95 one day... boy was that car fast.
Anyway, in 2012 I went to the BMW dealership and got zero service, I went to MB and got service but when I sat in the E-Class I felt like I was in a Ford. My wife dragged me to Lexus, we didn't get any service after sitting in the car for 20 minutes (to their credit, they were busy as crap unlike the arrogant BMW dealership). I went to Audi, because I wanted to look at a S5 but got in a 12 A6 3.0 Prestige. They treated us first like human-beings and I was very impressed with the car. They didn't have the color I was looking for so I ordered a 13 and 3 months later I wrote a check for the car. To this day, the car drives like new and still looks great. I still get compliments on the how the car looks.
At one point I had a 170 mile commute I took 4 times a week. I was driving a Acura, purchased the A3 TDI and wow, you talking about less than a quarter tank of diesel to get me there, it saved me so much money in fuel it paid for itself. I love the performance of the car too. I’ll be skipping whatever fix they come up with.
Some of you love to hate on Audi, but the FACT of the matter is they are selling. There are plenty of people that like to drive them and love the way they look. People say they all look alike, but as you can see, BMW and Benz went the exact same route, same car just bigger or smaller. Some of you needed more hugs as a child. Volkswagen also is the parent company of Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Porsche but I don’t see any articles or people talking about why people are still buying those cars.
Although I will never buy another entry-level Audi, I’ll be waiting on a redesigned SQ5 and the all new S5 (hopefully RS5) in the next year or 2.

I'd buy (another) diesel VW right now if they'd sell me one! My only regret about the whole ridiculous "diesel gate" thing is that they got caught!! They weren't very smart to try that! But as far as "spewing pollution" like the press likes to describe it, that's total BS! They're pretty damn clean....by comparison to some other NOx sources. It just happens that they didn't meet the now minuscule limit, tried to fake it and got caught! My 2.0 TDI SportWagon pulls like a train and I'd trade my 4.2 gas Audi R8 for an R8 with a performance turbo-diesel if they made one! Not ideal for track days, I'll grant you, but oh what a long range, high speed autobahn cruiser that would be!

Oh, and PS: I'll agree with that "arrogant BMW dealer" comment! What's with those guys?? I went by a local BMW dealership to look at a used Porsche on their lot that my adult son was interested in. First time I went by to look, I was driving my VW TDI SportWagon. I could BARELY get the time of day off the salesman! Totally arrogant twit! Because of that, when my son wanted me to come back with him while he test drove it, I said, "Let's take the R8. I want to see how they treat us." Well, you guessed it! The guy was a TOTAL sycophant! Practically fell all over himself sucking up to us. Completely p****d me off. I was glad my son didn't like the car and didn't buy it! I would NEVER buy a car from an a****le like that!!
