#NAIAS: Hyundai CEO Confirms Santa Cruz Concept Will Go To Production

Hyundais star of the 2015 Detroit motor show, the HCD-15 Santa Cruz concept, now looks set for production.

In an interview with Australian media at today’s opening day of the 2016 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), Hyundai USA boss Dave Zuchowski all but confirmed the showroom arrival of the five-seat dual-cab light-duty pick-up.

“What’s the easiest way to say that? We’re waiting more for an announcement than we are for an approval, right? HMC [Hyundai Korea head office] is going to dictate [when that happens, but] we feel really good about it,” Zuchowski stated.

Looks more like a Ute than a Truck. Hyundai would be better served to advertise it as such. Then again, Americans wouldn't know what a Ute was anyways....fk it, Hyundai El Camino.

Not the next tracker, the next Subaru Brat clone without Subaru's reputation for reliability.

It does look nice, but I doubt Hyundai will throw in the 300+ hp powerplant or six-speed manual needed for me buy one.

p.s.
okay, maybe 330+ hp and 6/7/8 speed dual clutch at < $30,000 might make me reconsider.

Duhh! It's a crossover pickup.

Hyundai quality/reliability is excellent.

Just because it is a crossover pickup does not mean that it can not be fun or have a performance oriented version.

Hyundai quality/reliability is ok, but no where near that of Subaru.

A few city yuppies will buy it to show how active they are and maybe hipsters (or whatever they call themselves now) to go against the grain. City pseudo-truck buyers who don't need trucks.
