#NAIAS: Oh, My! And YOU Thought The Lexus LC 500 Was Stunning On The Outside...
I am not sure about you, Spies, but for me one of the highlights of the 2016 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) was the all-new Lexus LC 500. Seen in production trim for the very first time, to me, it is showing that Lexus continues to move in its own direction.

It easily could have built a vehicle that squares up with the BMW 6-Series or Mercedes-Benz S550 Coupe but it appears that it's going for something more along the lines of the Jaguar F-Type.

**Learn MORE about the all-new Lexus LC 500 HERE!

If you take a look at the way this vehicle sits, in addition to its engine that's mounted as close to the firewall as possible, it's clear this isn't your ordinary grand touring coupe.

While we've shown you the exterior end-to-end, we think it's time that you get a gander of what's going on inside. Tastefully spec'd with a dark tan interior, it's clear that this intimate cabin takes creative license from the LFA. Check out its instrument panel and the overall dashboard. It screams "LFA!"

Elsewhere around the cabin you'll note some GS F cues with how the LC 500 makes use of stitching, Alcantara and leather bits. Bonus props to Lexus for the use of what appears to be real metal — though we cannot be certain as we were not allowed to touch and feel around.

Is there anything catching YOUR eye, Spies?

Baby crap brown is a DUMB color choice. That in light gray would be stunning ditto black and chrome.

Its a matter of personal choice. A tan color makes the interior feel bigger and less claustrophobic and much warmer than gray which is cold. In northern climes that makes a difference.

The interior color harmonizes NOT to my eye. That is the issue for me. Old people might like like baby poop brown, but whenever the interior of the car is brighter looking than the exterior, I tune out.

Looks pretty ordinary to me.

I love this car, but the interior is a bit bland in the monotone color and what with the stalks sticking out of the instrument cover, what is this the 80's.

Absolutely stunning interior. This color is perfect. This is the kind of interior that the Jag F-Type needed to make it a complete premium package.

Even more importantly for Lexus, this is an excellent execution of an interior when viewed in comparison to the exterior. The exterior is overly expressive while the interior is understated, but incredibly attractive. Maybe something for Infiniti to learn whose QX30 is overly expressive on both the inside and out.

If there's one drawback, I think it will be similar to the drawback with the IS and RC. It appears that it will feel overly snug and too intimate. I'm not an overly large human being, but the IS and RC can feel pretty claustrophobic after just a bit in the driver's seat. Even the cockpits of Ferraris and Lambos don't feel that way.

Like the Toyota 2000GT. I agree.

knowitall1985, I'm wondering if this car may suffer an identity crisis, though. Just like the article states above, it LOOKS like its squaring up against the F-Type, but in reality, Lexus benchmarked the 6 Series and Maserati GT, as stated by the company themselves. Lexus' 0-60 estimate is 4.5 seconds, so it may mean this car is even heavier than the porky RCF. And as I pointed out previously, in one of the track pictures posted at its premiere, there appeared to be an incredible amount of body roll for a car with (apparently) such minimal wheel travel and low center of gravity.

Why would it square up against the F-Type? The F-Type is a case of the Emperor's new clothes when it comes to handling. The base Stingray kills if for half the price. I would imagine the Mustang GT would too.

The F-Type is terrible in real life. The ride is harsh and giggly and the would be forgivable it it were the undisputed track monster of all, but it so isn't.

Not a big fan of the huge grill, but the rest of the exterior is quite striking. Interior screams Buick and does not match/fit the exterior.
