#NAIAS: Is The Avista The BEST Looking Buick, Ever? IF GM Builds It, Would YOU Give It A Shot?

#NAIAS: Is The Avista The BEST Looking Buick, Ever? IF GM Builds It, Would YOU Give It A Shot?
As one of the more stunning debuts at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS), the all-new Buick Avista really wowed us. This is the second consecutive year that Buick has brought something especially strong to the Detroit Auto Show.

It's refreshing to see that Buick isn't afraid to pull a rabbit out of the hat. There's just one problem.

**Learn MORE about the Buick Avista HERE!

IF the Avista becomes reality, there's a great chance that it will be delivered in a truly diluted form factor. We've seen this happen before with other Buick concepts.

Take, for example, last year's Avenir. It was one of the stars of the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. But instead of doing something bold with it, merely some of its design cues made it onto the 2017 Buick LaCrosse. That appears to be it for the Avenir.

Having said that, let's assume that Buick goes a different route and actually builds the Avista more in line with what we're seeing today. Would YOU give the twin-turbo V6 good for 400 horsepower a shot?

Buick definitely needs the Avista, but I'd call it Riviera. That said they gave us the gorgeous Avenir and then shat out the dull, boring, and dated looking Lacrosse. Give this the dull, boring, and dated treatment and you have the new Regal.

Buick needs:
an Electra based on the Volt (sedan + luxury + price control)
a Riviera (Avista)
an Invicta (RWD sedan)

GM needs to decide if they want to keep Chevy or GMC and Buick or Cadillac.

I personally think GM uses Buick to peddle their European and Aussie models and then never market them properly, turning them into sales failures. I love the Regal GS, but nobody knows it exists.

Chevy is mostly useless except for the Camaro and Corvette. Buick cars outside the U.S. are called Chevy unless they're specifically for the Chinese market. Nobody knows wtf GMC is.

I think GM should rid themselves of GMC and Buick, and retain Cadillac since it's a luxury marque, maybe get a new marketing team, and keep Chevy for the trucks and the all too endearing economy crap they call cars.

i think GM needs to get rid of ALL OF GM. This is not a company, its a federal gov't division. Supported by govt (taxpayers) funds. Still uses tarp money to pay death and injury liabilities. Used Tarp money to pay back gov't BAILOUT LOANS.

AND STILL NO GM EXEC GOES TO PRISION/CHAIR FOR KILLING AND INURING THOUSANDS!

buy Ford only company that did not take a bailout!

Buick and stunning do NOT compute. Oxymoron.

For years - Buick - with the Riviera - was a styling leader as well as producing the Doctors cars as well. However - all of these two seat coupes (Even those with a seat back there that cannot be used by people with legs) miss a MAJOR point. Making the rear bench into two defined spaces clearly is misguided because it interferes in what a back seat was actually for!

And what's with the name "Avista." Is that an internet search engine or a neutral gender liberal political correct example of stupidity. Why didn't GM just finish the name to Avistar and be done with a something the public and grasp and identify with.
GM = Great Mistake

Actually - there were a number of stunning Rivieras that I would consider the best of Buick

Now - what Buick Needs

1 - Cars are not selling well - especially not sub Premium cars - they need what is coming the most - the middle Crossover- which will outsell the Avista (Since the Avista will NEVER come to pass - much like the ElMiraj and Ciel - anything will outsell the Avista)

2 - If they are going to make Buick the place for Second Tier LUXURY cars - then they need a Large rear wheel Drive car - the Avenir would work although it is still not big enough.

3 - Then they need a large two door Riviera - and Avista is not big enough to take that place.

However - the last thing Gm should do is make an EV Buick - it will be like a brick and not sell at all.

that is a good looking concept but based on track record i would trust buick to water it down to lacrosse levels before production model surfaces....

No more coupes or sedans for me, the shooting brake/hatch is the only way to go for cargo plus the sporting nature in a car for me anymore. Great looking coupe though!

Buick showed two other Riviera concepts in 2007 and 2013, I believe, and no production models came to fruition from them. So, sadly, might be the same fate with the Avista.
