#NAIAS: CAR WARS! Which All-New Luxury Sedan Gets YOUR Vote? Genesis G90 vs. Lincoln Continental
At the 2016 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) we saw the debut of a handful luxury sedans. Though their sizes and specifications ranged, to me, it was pretty hard not to ignore the all-new Lincoln Continental and all-new Genesis G90.
Both were shown in production trim for the very first time.

Although we're a bit in the dark about pricing for the time being, I think it's a very real possibility that these two will go head-to-head. If you're not considering one of the German three in this estimated price bracket — $50,000-$65,000 — why wouldn't you scope out the latest from Lincoln and Hyundai?
Both are sure to offer a lot of value for dollar and be the respective flagship of their marques.
All that said,
WHICH gets your vote at the end of the day? Would YOU have the Genesis G90 OR the Lincoln Continental?
Agent 001 and I were debating which of the two were better, so, I have to say I am excited to see what the Spies think!

I'll be able to get my hands on both, so I'm excited. If I had to choose right now, it would be the Lincoln. The interest in this is strong and I like (1) its elegant simplicity and (2) that it's not trying to be yet another BMW/Mercedes competitor. If I could get a black-on-black Continental, that would be very nice indeed.
I actually know several millennials that think the Continental is hot.
I suspect getting the Genesis will be a lot easier. The Equus and K900 were good attempts. They hit the target but not the bullseye. I suspect this will have a much better aim.

You are crazy if you think millenials will be drawn to the Continental. Older generations, maybe, but not the younger. This millennial has zero interest in it.

So I should ignore the deposits in hand?

One 35 year old that put in an order does not equal the next hottest car for 18 to 35 year olds. Guaranteed if you asked the typical 18 to 35 year old if they would consider it, 95% or more would say no. Not saying it is a completely bad car, but I do not see younger people flocking to this.

Completely agree with Matt (again). Make mine Black with that slick interior with the piping on the seats. I cant wait to see this car on the street. Though the Hyundai's are probably a good value, I'd prefer to buy American. The Germans are just getting too expensive to justify. With a fully loaded C Class or GLC stretching to nearly $60K... and this new E will likely be in the $70's for your loaded E350 (or comparable model) its just ridiculous.

It may be just me - but the Genesis already looks dated - especially the interior. However - one must remember who buys LARGE Luxury Vehicles - and while Old Folks is the correct answer - remember that everyone eventually gets there. IT is still largely the older folks who have the money to afford these cars. And as Folks get older - the aches and pains of the age also set in - so they like a car that they have more room to easily get in and out - and a less punishing ride. ANd I am with Matt - I believe you can make the Lincoln pretty good looking with the right option choice - and color. And it will be far less expensive than the Genesis at list (Maybe not a sale though)

No question the Lincoln, I'm excited for Ford to have a credible product in the segment. I've never owned a Ford but this could be my first. It really looks to be a special car and IMO there are very few special cars out there. So many "me too's!" I missed the NAIAS this year and last so I've not seen it live, I cant wait!

I'd go Lincoln in this battle, better exterior and interior, although I think that the all blue interior may age poorly in the long run

I agree with TomM. The Genesis looks very dated and a hodge-podge of other people's ideas. If it was a concept car in 1990, then I'd say good one. Today, it looks terrible.
Lincoln without a doubt. And a good friend of mine has already put his money down as well. He is a millenial.

Definitely the Lincoln because it actually has its own history of design to draw from. The Hyundai just looks like a Mercedes rear ended an Audi with a BMW/Audi/Infiniti/everything else sandwiched in the middle for the interior.
