RENDERED SPECULATION: IF The Next-Gen Audi Q5 Takes After The Q7 And Looks Like THIS, Will YOU Approve?
We're just under way here in 2016 and the Audi Q7 should be arriving in showrooms shortly. While Audi certainly is taking its time getting the all-new Q7 and all-new R8 into dealerships, our attention is beginning to shift to the next all-new vehicle in the four rings' fleet.

That would be the next-generation Audi Q5 sport-utility vehicle.

If the company stays consistent, we're expecting that the all-new Q5 will be merely an evolution of its existing design. Do not expect fireworks or a jaw-dropping change from a styling perspective. However, we do think it's reasonable to expect the all-new Q to drop some weight, have more powerful and efficient motors and an updated interior that takes some creative license from the Q7 and A4.

And yes, plenty of all-new technology.

While we've seen some spy shots of the all-new German going through research and development, we're keen on showing you this all-new rendering put together by the well-known Theophilus Chin. He's pretty damn good if we're honest and his interpretation of the Q5 seems pretty reasonable given where Audi's design team has been taking things as of late.

What say you, Spies?

This is how Audi designs cars: take the old Audi, slap on a new grille, and add a straight line somewhere. Result = dated and dull looking.

I saw the Q7 in person. Looks better in real life than the pictures. I would expect the same of the Q5. Not a major styling change but headed in the right direction. This is coming from someone who is biased toward Detroit.

What a sad little droopy-ass back end! C'mon Audi, you can do better than this. Oh, that's right—your design team hasn't had a new design inspiration for the last 10 years. Sorry.

You've got to admit though, this Audi design does not seem to have changed in years. Recycling the same rubbish for people like you

Audi took longer than I thought to copy the "3D grill" from the latest BMW 3-Series. They've been very quick in the past to copy BMW headlight design features. Audi is diluting other manufacturer's identities too in the process and not just their own.

To say Audi copied BMW headlight design is laughable...Audi started the LED trend

Never consider buying one nor leasing....nothing. Want nothing to do with them. Just dislike Audi's. To me, it is non existent.

That's why you have "Porsche..." in your userid because you would "never consider buying one...". "Want nothing to do with them".

Hmmmm anyone one to tell this joker that VW owns Porsche, Audi and a few other automotive companies.

Do you think there is no difference between the brands? You probably think just because Volvo is Chinese owned, they are now more Geely crap and not Volvo. Audi and VWs are terrible cars IMO. Porsches may come from the same corporate family (thanks to that nutcase who singlehandedly f'ed Porsche), but they are a very different brand and have actually preserved their culture and approach well.

The grille and squared-off design works better in this shorter car than on the Q7. The Q7 is a dud, especially cared to the gorgeous XC90. That being said, this Q5, if gone to production, seems like a step backwards in design, just like the Q7. But still worlds better than the new RX which no longer looks premium.

If this were a new Volkswagen design, then I'd say it was a nice step up, though not exactly my cup of tea (lose that 3D grill and obsession with straight lines). But as an Audi design, I feel they're moving in the wrong direction. Although the current Q5 (2013-2016, including details like lights) doesn't look like it's fresh off the 2016 drawing board, I like the look a lot, and the car over all (I own a 2015, and I love it...mostly).

To the people who feel all Audis look the same, I agree that there are strong similarities amongst the sedans and the SUVs, but to assert they're the *same* is like asserting all electric guitars sound the same. Well, they do... to *some* people. Other people can tell tell the difference between a Strat' and a Tele', just by the sound, and some folks can even tell you when the strings needs changing, purely by the sound. "All the same" is very much a matter of how discerning the observer is. It could be equally argued that all BMWs look the same, and all Mercedes look the same, especially when you see all the models lined up in the same color (MB silver).

Sorry but I can no longer get into Audi styling-especially their SUV's. They seem worse than Porsche with their evolutionary styling updates. I'd rather buy the new Jaguar F-Pace. It's far better looking in my eyes and seems to promise a better driving experience.

"RENDERED SPECULATION" people! The images are from not Audi. I'm not saying this isn't close to the new design but and it could very likely be the final design, but most people here have already decided that this is Audi's new design.
The new Q7 is very station wagon-like in pics, but in person (I saw one at the dealership) and it's not nearly as revolting to the eyes as people say in the comments (well IMO).
