IF Both Were In Dealers Today, WHICH Would You Drive Home? The Cadillac CT6 Or The Lincoln Continental?
If you thought the days of big, bad American luxury sedans was over, they're not. Things are just starting to warm up in 2016.

That's because not only Cadillac but Lincoln will be launching all-new luxury sedans into the marketplace. Cadillac is dropping the all-new CT6 sedan. Lincoln will be debuting the all-new Continental.

While we're not entirely sure if either car will really end the stranglehold the Germans have in the luxury sector, what we do know is that both vehicles will certainly give each other a lot of competition. That's because both are sure to be packed to the gills with General Motors' and Ford's latest technology, have a smooth ride, and be priced aggressively.

All that being said though, we're curious: IF both of these products were on showroom floors TODAY, which one would you want to drive home in? The all-new Cadillac CT6 or the Lincoln Continental?

Tell us WHY you went with one or the other!

I'd go for the Lincoln. The Caddy looks like every other caddy and isn't breaking any new ground for the brand. The Lincoln is all new, breaks new ground and has a great interior. I look forward to Lincoln marketing the car better toward the driver rather than the passenger. I also think they will add a few more tech features before launch. Things like wifi, car play functionality, rear seat entertainment ...and maybe even wireless charging.

If I was forced to choose, Lincoln, based purely on exterior styling. I don't have any hands-in experience with either, and I really don't care for Caddy's looks.

The Lincoln is certainly prettier but I'd pick the Cadillac. The CT6 is a far more sophisticated automobile and is sure to provide more luxury and a superior driving experience. That's also why it will probably cost $20k more than the Lincoln.

I'm rooting for Lincoln and Caddy, I really am but when it comes to the launch of their sedans, their timing could not be worst. They are already behind in tech and the interiors of both will look like yester-year compared to the E Class atleast.

Instead of hinting, teasing, and conceptualizing these cars for the last years, they should have already gone on sale a year ago to attack the midsize Germans at their most vulnerable state with the E, 5, A6, and even GS getting long in the tooth, the E being the oldest.

Fast forward a year later and they decide to launch these things with the all new E Class, dubbed the first production vehicle to be automated, the 5 series hot on its heels, and ofcourse the A6 and GS will follow suit with refreshes, Lincoln and Caddy's timing could not be worst.

- except the CT6 doesn't compete in the segment that you just mentioned - the CTS already competes there for Caddy. Lincoln, on the other hand might benefit from your advice as the Continental is replacing the MKS which was somewhere far down the ladder rung in the midsize segment

Hands down: Lincoln. The CT6 doesn't look new in any way and most people will assume it's a CTS.

The CT6 might have made sense it it replaced the CTS and kept the latter's price point.

Given the interest at the dealer level, the Lincoln has more people asking. Not much buzz at Caddy.

Continental in a heartbeat! What's the purpose of the CT6? Nobody cares that its RWD and GM cars suck!

My elderly, NJ-based, Florida for winter, parents are in Juptier, FL for three months with their new 2014 Cadillac SRX SUV and one of its sensors went bad with the result that the outside temperature registers as -30 degrees (no I'm not making this up) and the AC is completely disabled, and the rest of the ventilation system blowing out heat at the "MAX" setting and it can't be turned off; in 80 degree Florida heat; in an 11 month old GM car. Yes, my dad is a Cadillac loyalist.

GM products are just the worst. Hopefully Ford/Lincoln can really take market share away from them with this new Continental vehicle.

Honestly, it's a toss-up or more like a "neither" proposition. From a styling perspective, both are duds. From an interior perspective, the Lincoln is borderline tacky. Haven't seen the Caddie's interior, but if it follows the ATS/CTS themes, no thanks. If it follows the new XT5, then maybe we'll talk. Guessing the loaded price point for these cars might approach $70k and if I was ready to get something in that price range and was looking for a luxo barge, I would get a 5.0 Genesis G80 and spend the change in Vegas.

These cars are not true competitors and only in the U.S. would they even be cross shopped. The Continental, at best, could compete with the Cadillac XTS, while it's still available. The Continental will not match the CT6 in refinement, driving dynamics, or overall finesse. Size does not make for a class competitor.

No brainer...CT6

American buyers tend to cross shop based on price not vehicle type or class, which is why--if marketed well--the Continental could prove formidable.

There's a reason why Ford has not chosen to invest in a legit, premium RWD platform for Lincoln cars. Until that happens, Lincoln can forget going head to head with Cadillac...period.

You're a moron who knows NOTHING about cars. Audi competes with FWD platforms against BMW and Mercedes that are RWD.

I would guess that for the more cerebral car enthusiast it would have to be the Cadillac. Yes it is too generic looking(Wish Cadillac would infuse more styling from the El Mirage concept car). Being RWD and having a chassis that might approach BMW handling would certainly be appealing. However for most people out and out luxury, styling quietness would be more important traits. The Lincoln has this is in spades over the Cadillac. I think it should out sell the Cadillac as well. Time will tell.

I would prefer to know the interior dimensions- trunk space - and availability of a spare tire before I would choose. However - in the end - I would choose the Lincoln - My brother is a Ford/Lincoln dealer.

Now - the question is - WHY would I want either car - when I already have an S-600. Neither of them is going to really come close. (There is something about a real 12 cylinder engine that no Turbo Six will ever match)

Neither. With the Model S around why get a fossil car?

If you really must a Chinese-made CT6 PHEV with a Volt 5ET50 transaxle could be ok...

I like both the Lincoln Continental & Cadillac CT6 for different reasons, however the CT6 is going to be the more exclusive automobile, while Lincoln's Continental will be immensely more popular & seen on nearly every street corner, similar to the first 2005 Chrysler 300C models.

Actually, the CT6 will be "exclusive" because most average, mediocre people like yourself who can only afford to drive Ford Fusions won't actually be able to purchase one.

Just for grins, I just built online a Cadillac CT6. The MSRP of the model that I built was over $91,000.00. Do what? Ninety-one thousand dollars for a V6 Cadillac? The grin turned into a Ba-ha-ha!

Dealers are not pleased with the arrival CT6 simply due to cost and styling. The CT6 should have replaced the CTS at the CTS' price point and then very quickly a restyled LWB ATS as the CT4. The CTS and ATS sell NOWHERE near list, so doing a vehicle that is even more expensive and more dull to look at was stupid.

It does NOT look "85% like an MKZ" and because you laud this, your automotive snobbery/bigotry could not be more on parade. You're a partisan automotive bigot poseur at best and that is assuming you're intelligent.

How does the Continental look 85% like the MKZ? This coming from people who supposedly know cars? BMW rolls out the 3 Series in 2012. It has headlights that touch the grill. All subsequent BMW's have had that transition, yet it was a bad move by Lincoln? BMW has outsold all other luxury brands again this year. I agree with MDarriner that you guys are very partisan.

Thats an easy one, the Cadillac. The lincoln is just a fat front wheel drive based AWD system with a sideways mounted engine. That alone disqualifies it. Its just a Taurus underneath. The Caddy is a much better package. Its a no brainer.
