Audi Confirms e-tron quattro Will Become The Production Q6

The model will be badged as the Q6, and will take heavy influence from Audi's e-tron quattro concept that was revealed at the Frankfurt motor show last year.

The carmaker has confirmed that the new model will use three electric motors and a quick charging, high-capacity battery to "offer a maximum of sportiness, driving dynamics and efficiency". It is claimed to be capable of eeking out more than 500 kilometers (311 miles) from a single charge.

Coming from a huge Audi fan.... Please oh please change that front end. That's Acura beak territory right there.

+1 !!!

Also, from the article: "...It is claimed to be capable of eeking out more than 500 kilometers (311 miles) from a single charge..." -- Is that a best-case, in lab, theoretical, unable to attain in real life number, or something that will typically be seen by real world drivers under real world conditions, such as having heaters, defrosters, and seat warmers on in the winter, A/C in the summer, with multiple occupants, and on uneven terrain? (And yes, I realize that's still a best-case with new batteries, and that they gradually lose their maximum range with use over time.)

Steve: even if that's they're lab measurements, it still represents a significant available range. I would expect real world for me (cold wet Seattle) would still be in excess of 150 miles. That would almost handle my weekly commute without charging. I rarely exceed 100 miles in a day, and typically am closer to 50.

While I'd have to see this in person (as they never seem to look the same in pictures), the styling is OK. Yeah, tone down the grill a touch.

Why do EVs need to look retarded? How hard is it for car manufacture to build a normal looking EV?

Consumers don't buy them - not "different" or "quirky" enough for the "look at my EV" owners.

I remember the Honda Accord Hybrid. Strong gas/electric drivetrain that had more performance than the top trim V6. Consumers hated it b/c the car didn't scream "I'm a hybrid!" on the exterior. They flocked to the Prius instead.

Even though the GM/Chrysler/BMW 2-mode hybrid system could have been better, slapping hybrid stickers & small decals on their SUVs was the absolute minimum done to show the vehicles had hybrid drivetrains. The large hybrid SUVs looked the same as the normal gas versions so the life-lesson was missed on potential consumers.
