Nissan Toys With Titan Warrior Production - Does It Get YOUR Vote?

Nissan Toys With Titan Warrior Production - Does It Get YOUR Vote?

Nissan had a bit of a showing at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show last week and one of the cars to show off was the Titan-based Warrior Concept.

As a refresher, the Nissan Titan Warrior Concept was sort of a pitch at a performance off-road variant to the new full-size Titan, in a sort “Hey Ford F150 Raptor breathe.” It even comes with the new Cummins-sourced 5.0L turbodiesel V8.

Now, AutomotiveNews is saying Nissan is very interested in producing the truck for real.

“We’re making a big commitment to the pickup segment with the new Titan, and we’re also looking at where else we might take it now,” Nissan’s Director of Product Planning for trucks and SUVs, Rich Miller, said.

It will sell but in much smaller numbers than Ford Raptor. Best to be first to market a product or the last one selling it. Everyone in the middle almost always trails the first or exits market leaving it for last one standing.

Yes, build it. It doesn't have to be high-volume because it doesn't really take a lot of investment. It's like TRD or whatever, some different panels, a tuned suspension, etc. It's mostly just parts.

Nissan needs to take their trucks in an interesting direction and this can really help. There is nothing really compelling about the current, regular Titan.

Nissan has lackluster build quality, poor reliability and / or poor durabiluty, and an acrimonious attitude toward customers when they come in for service on their vehicles. Nissan is Japanese for VW.

Personal anecdote, but I had superb service from Nissan when I had my XTerra. Both the dealer service guys and the corporation were very good to me. What's ironic is that the $7500+ expenses that they OK'd to just eat because they were good to me were due to misdiagnoses from the techs. So.. good service, rubbish techs? :-) At least in my experience.
