DRIVEN: Can The All-New Jaguar F-PACE Take Down The Macan, X3, SQ5? FIRST Drive May Surprise You...

...Likewise, the car’s big-selling diesel engines will need to be every bit as good as its supercharged petrol V6 if it’s really going to tempt buyers away from Porsche Macans, higher-end BMW X3s and Audi SQ5s. A very quick stint in a V6 diesel suggests that particular F-Pace at least has plenty going for it – but the 2.0-litre Ingenium still has plenty to prove.

Be assured, however, that if Jaguar has done as thorough a job across the board with this car as it seems to have with its handling and all-round driver appeal – and there’s every reason to expect as careful attention to detail from them as you get from any premium brand – the F-Pace will be an outstanding car. An outstanding addition to its class, too, not to mention a proper bumper-to-bumper Jaguar that is well capable of taking the brand places.

The bottom line is "NO" but the "agents" will still do their National Enquirer gushes.

A lot of folks are gushing over the all-new XE.

F-PACE is definitely an alternative that bored X3, Q5 and GLK buyers will scope out.

Aside from Jaguar? How was the buffet at the Jaguar luncheon? The reality is that there are scathing reports on the XE.

Suburban realtors everywhere are getting really excited about the thought of a Jaguar SUV that's perceived to be more prestigious than the Q5/X3 but that's less off-roady and more functional than the RR Evoque at around the $50K price point.

Time for a new face in this segment - Jag is going to do great here.

From what I've read, this car is a true contender. Best styling in an SUV. HOWEVER, it seems like Jag has become BMW: great driving cars with mundane interiors.

That's just personal preference though. I think Audi has the worst interiors, but for some reason people rave about them.

Actually, I have to correct myself. I must have been thinking of the XE interior. The F-Pace's interior is actually very nice. Much better-executed than almost any other current Jaguar. The design theme seems to work much better in the SUV than in the sedans, similarly to how Volvo's design theme seems to work better in the XC90 vs. the S90.

I have read "zero" scathing reports on the XE. Quite the contrary. Biggest criticism of the XE is it's rather "plain" interior compared to the BMW 3 series and Audi A4. However it comes out on top in ride and handling. As for the F Pace I think is prettier than a Macan, its ride handling are probably pretty close and it appears to have more interior room. It's also cheaper.
