Tesla Submitted Michigan Dealership Application To Challenge Anti-Consumer Law

Tesla Motors Inc. submitted a dealership application to the Michigan Secretary of State Office in November as a likely precursor for the company to challenge the state’s ban on directly selling vehicles to consumers, The Detroit News has learned.

A Tesla spokesperson on Monday confirmed that the Palo Alto, California-based automaker submitted applications last year to sell and service its luxury electric vehicles in Michigan as a way to confirm that legislation signed by Gov. Rick Snyder in October 2014 bans the company’s business model of forgoing franchised dealers and selling cars directly to customers.

“Submission of the application is intended to seek the Secretary of State’s confirmation of this prohibition,” a Tesla representative wrote in an email to The News. “Once confirmed, Tesla will review any options available to overturn this anti-consumer law.”

Tesla has not shied away from litigation over laws that ban its direct-sales approach.

Tesla wants to subvert the law so that it can price fix and cash rape consumers.

You really don't understand the concept of price fixing do you? You prefer cash raping by protectionism? Your developmental disability is really getting in the way of producing more than just a brain fart.

I do understand price fixing, but the unintelligent idiots--yourself included--that keep prattling on with your level of ignorance create the false impression that Democrats have a clue.

They don't

So go insert in yourself.

Produce one intelligent utterance and I will be nice to you, but you're such a moron that such Glasnost is unlikely. You do show your lack of intelligence in sparring with me. I always win and you always look stoooooopid.

Matty, during the day is nice and civilized around here at Autospies as you are off to your 9 to 5 day job. Thank god your employer has banned you from using the internet after those embarrassing psychotic online outbreaks of yours. The only finish line you are crossing first is the 15-seconds it take you to finish masturbating to your prized Trump and Cruz images.

Nope, it was your psychotic nature that got you banned from internet access. Does your wife an father-in-law know about the shit you post online? They would be shocked and disappointed. If we are lucky, you will be banned from home access next.

In this day and age dealerships are an unnecessary and annoying middleman that add little value while driving up prices.

So a manufacturer fixing a price and saying take or leave it lowers the price? Nope. It does the opposite. People who hate negotiating the price of a car are unintelligent people who do not know their finances and buy solely on emotion. If you know your finances and are prepared to walk, you'll do just fine.

I think MDarringer owns a dealership

Matty doesn't own any dealerships. Just read his previous posts you can see that he owns "business interest with his partners". Which means he is too stupid to manage anything on his own and is being supported by his father-in-law. He once told us that he had an business interest in Porsche, and then changed it to he "sold his stock". Matt is a few base pairs short of a double helix, so believe anything he says at your own peril.

While My brother owned a dealership - the sales model that Tesla is using is certainly not in the favor of the consumer. With other manufacturers - you have a choice among LOTS of different dealerships - and they compete with each other - both in sales and parts/service as well. With NO dealerships - Tesla sets not only the price for their car alone - and it is the same all across the country - but they also set the price they will give you for your trade in (And that could also be a TESLA too)- and YOU have no choice to go to another sales outlet EXCEPT to buy another BRAND. THere is absolutely no competition for their cars. I can get quotes from a dozen different dealers for most Brands. ANd I will use the price from one to negotiate with another.

However - it is in SERVICE (Not Auto Body Repair) that Tesla has lost me completely - they do not offer a way for a person who OWNS the car to reset their computer without going to a Tesla service center - and they claim the rite to approve the repair before doing so. Even Auto Body repairs that set a code will require a return to a Tesla owned center _ EVEN THOUGH the law in most states says that UNLESS THE SERVICES ARE FREE - you have the right to choose your repair facility - and Tesla cannot claim that most repairs (Brakes for instance) requires specialized Tesla Knowledge.

However - Tesla has not made a dime of profit yet - and has not shown that it can actually do that with its model. AND - nonegotiations will work only as long as there are no other possible competitors. So - based on that - I don't see much of a future with Tesla to begin with. THey bet the house on the idea that the cost of the production would come down far more rapidly than it did - and that oil prices would not tank as they did. And they have lost - and there will be competition BEFORE there will be cheap TEslas (Except for the orphans when Tesla itself goes belly up)
