Insurers Whisper Self Driving Cars May Cause Premiums To Rise Due To Decrease In Bad Drivers
Whenever something bad happens, there’s always someone who benefits from it. Caught a cold? The medics are there for you, but at a cost, and they’ll happily recommend a pill or two so that the pharmaceutical companies can join in on the party as well.

Strangely enough, the saying holds its worth the other way around as well: whenever something good happens, there are those who bemoan it, even though, for obvious reasons, they might be a little reluctant to show it. I mean, it’s like saying you don’t like Christmas - it’s one of those things that spells social suicide.

Let’s say you and I have never been involved in a traffic incident - that doesn’t mean we can’t be happy about the fact that the autonomous cars come with a promise for a drastically reduced number of accidents. It’s just the kind of prospect on which we should all be able to agree it’s a good thing.

Don't you just love it...insurance companies acting like victims because accidents would be down. Its like the newspaper business...the more customers they loose to digital the higher they raise their prices to make up the lost revenues. A winning strategy...I don't think so. If accidents are down and insurance companies raise rates I can assure you that the smart money (read hedge funds here) will start their own insurance companies and make huge profits at the expense of these companies.

If I didn't know any better, I'd swear they're just a bunch of blood-sucking leeches that'll find ANY excuse to raise premiums, and no reasons to become more efficient, leaner, or generate more value to their customers. It's as though all that matters is lining their pockets, and damn the consumer, and damn a fair exchange with the buyer.

That's just crazy talk. Right?

More likely autonomous cars will harder to insure because they will CAUSE wrecks either through software glitches or braking efficiency that is so amazing that the autonomous car gets rear ended.

The blood-sucking leeches of the insurance industry will get their wholly owned puppet--the IIHS- to make the case for them.

Car insurance, health insurance...doesn't matter who, it's one of the nation's biggest scams
