Sergio Marchionne Says Ferrari SUV Not In The Works - But Should It Be?
Around a month ago Ferrari officially separated from FCA. Its stock topped at $62 a share shortly after the automaker's IPO in October but has fallen sharply since then. Now in early February the supercar company's stock is trading at around $35 a share. FCA head Sergio Marchionne isn’t worried, though. He says the automaker will "be fine" so long as it continues to do what it has always done. That means not building enough cars to meet demand. It's good business, but damn that sounds so cruel.

First question: Can you make a profit by offering an SUV?

If the answer is yes, then that's a reason to *consider* offering one. You still might decide not to, just because it's not your core business.

I don't think Ferrari needs an SUV. I also hope they'll return to making gorgeous cars, and let go of that awkward and disjointed styling language they've embraced.

There will be a Ferrari SUV in development the moment Sergio steps down. It worked for Porsche. Bentley sold out first year production before first SUV delivered. Rolls-Royce has one in development. Lambo coming soon. It's inevitable that Ferrari will have SUV's one day and they will sell like hot cakes.

Ferrari will hold-out for an SUV/CUV for as long as they can. But if they made a "pie-in-the-sky" concept, I'd bet the industry would go totally ape-$h!t on the grainy photo leaks.

That picture is beautiful, it'll come... well it should. One the other hand would you pay 200k+ for that or just buy a Cayenne Turbo S.

Ferrari does not need a SUV. Period.

They already sell every car they can make and are purposely limiting their production to maintain prices and resale value. They produce very high end sports cars - and have no need to go into the production of TRUCKS. Even a CUV - which would be something closer to what they produce - is simply something they do not need. And along with Porsche - they don't need to produce autonomous vehicles either.

I think somebody with serious clout & $$$ will convince Ferrari to do a 1-off CUV (nothing off-road/dirt/sand capable) & that'll spark serious consumer interest which will eventually push the directors to just make a low-production version.

Just add 22" wheels to the FF, and ta-da! SUV!

It will happen, but not in the traditional way.

Expect the Maserati suv to be "tuned" by Ferrari with a Ferrari engine option.

I would expect to see a new FF before a full-fledged Ferrari suv.
