Tesla has still made no profit and exists only because of federal subidies and purchase tax credits. In other words, the U.S. taxpayer is footing the bill for the grossly overpriced Hollywood glamour pusses to show how 'green' they are. The entire operation is a con job propelled by the greed and insatiable spending of the social democrat fascists.

Except that they have a 28% profit margin on the Model S. They have been investing billions into infrastructure to build their next generation cars and the most cost effective battery manufacturing plant in the world--that is why the bottom line is negative for now.

Tesla will do just fine. This move by BMW will not break the EV market.

It's probably BMW's attempt to mitigate various regional taxes, like London, by providing enough electric only power to get you into the city. While there, the owner would need to find a power source and recharge so they can drive out on electric power.

Besides, all manufacturers are going to try every feasible way to increase portfolio mileage to offset damage done by their profit centers, suvs and CUV Coupes.

I hope Tesla will do well. I don't own one (yet), but am looking out for the Model 3. I am sure it will embarrass the likes of M3/M4, C63, ... with its performance version.

I don't understand all the ill will from this board toward Tesla. It seems to reflect fear or envy from some ICE car "experts" here. And enough with the political/green bullshit.

All the reactions from performance car companies (Porsche, BMW, ...) speak volume about Tesla's success and how it reshapes the car industry. In this regard, Tesla totally deserves its credit.

Ahem! So none of you naysayers have any issue with BMW M-cars becoming plugin hybrids and eventually all-electric?

Hallelujah!
