The GREAT Debate: Did FCA's Jeep STEAL The #SuperBowl Car Commercial Showcase, AGAIN?!

The GREAT Debate: Did FCA's Jeep STEAL The #SuperBowl Car Commercial Showcase, AGAIN?!
As always, the Super Bowl is the premier event for advertising. Not only is it home to the most coveted commercials of the year, it's always the legendary time slot where air time costs big bucks.

That's because company's are paying for eyeballs.

While we know that alcohol manufacturers are big spenders for the Super Bowl, the car companies are right up there with them. While Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, Kia and others made sure to get their spots settled this year, it seems that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) did it again with not one, but two powerful commercials for Jeep.

In the first spot that ran right after the half time show, the company — or its advertising/marketing agency — put together a montage of faces and inserted Jeeps from yore and all-new models with a talk track. Though it sounds rather simple, it was a powerful way to showcase the brand. Following that was a more modern spot that featured a song where the visuals mirrored the lyrics. It was super on brand and, frankly, that's the name of the game.

Having said that, we wanted to ask you: After seeing ALL of today's Super Bowl auto-related commercials, did Jeep have the BEST of them?

Gotta love Jeep. I wonder who will own it next.

The Jeep commercials were OK i guess. But "long-winded" & fairly dry & way too serious. They showed very little of their current vehicles - so that says - Jeep has a lot of rhetoric but "where's the beef?!"

...did they not see that Toyota Tacoma commercial where they go from street to off-road with the dirt bikes jumping...got my attention & was interesting.

It was the Super Bowl. FCA put out these non-fun ads. Kinda clueless. This was their chance to "make new friends" with people who wouldn't normally look at a Fiat/Chrysler/Jeep ad. Opportunity wasted.

Best auto ad had to be Honda Ridgeline singing sheep. Best overall; Doritos ultrasound baby spot.

Worst auto commercial was the 2017 Toyota Prius one. Come on people a Prius as a getaway or police car what drugs was the heads of Toyota and their ad agency who did this commercial popping or smoking. We laughed at a big Super Bowl party about how stupid and ridiculous that commercial was. What's even worse is that Prius in motion or in real life is even uglier than in the many pics posted of it online.

Though they showed what "Jeep culture" is all about, they didn't really showcase anything new. Dirt, 4-wheeling, cool-factor, all-weather, younger generation - all these are things people know about Jeeps. The SB is the time to WOW the viewers and introduce a new angle about owning a Jeep.
What about a couple whooping it up 4-wheeling, getting all muddied, then realizing they're late for "something", stopping at a gas station, going into the bathrooms with their duffle bags, close-up shots of them getting changed and cleaning themselves off. Then the next shots are upclose shots of them getting out of their Jeep, giving their keys to a valet, then walking in together to a black-tie event, him in a tux and she in a formal gown. Then a wide-angle shot of their Jeep still dripping with mud with mud tracks following.
