On average, Audi owners annual income and education surpasses that of Lexus owners.

And Audi is just as prestigious as BMW or MB, on a global level. I don't care what people in the US think--they afterall buy bootleg, rebadged Toyota's in droves and then claim they're as status worthly as MB.

Firstly, show me an article or study where it shows that Audi owners are more educated than Lexus owners "on average".

Second, I personally have nothing against Audis - I think that they're fantastic cars... but I never understood why the Audi enthusiasts feel the need to post so many messages stating that their cars are just as prestigious as MBs and BMWs. Who cares?? To me, it's a sense of insecurity... and do you see BMW's fans claiming that their marquee is just as prestigious as MB's?? Rarely... it's because they know it is...

Audiman4 - aren't you in the US? It is important for a person in one country to care about what his/her country people think. Also in the US Audi doesn't have the prestige of a MB, BMW, or Lexus. Worldwide maybe something else, but Audi is not quite there yet in the US.

Also Will has a point there people who are not rich want either MB, BMW, or Lexus. Also saying that Audi owners are the richest doesn't make a difference. Lexus, BMW, MB have appeal all across the market. This is prestige - when poor people want a car they can't afford.

Ofcourse Audi can get there, but it is not there right now.

So Will, I guess using your moronic logic, since everyone wants an F-150 that's supposed to make it the best car? The fact is, Americans are more influenced by elaborate marketing campaigns rather than a quality, proven products that are less marketed, like Audi.

If Lexus was such a great product, they'd certainly be selling higher volume than the 20,000 cars they sold in Europe last year.

Who cares what poor people want. They can't afford to buy the product anyway, so their "wants" are irrelevant.

Sales in the US don't mean $hit, especially when those sales can't be replicated in any other market but the US. Therefore, Lexus is NOT as prestigious, important, or significant as Audi. Period.

US sales do matter, this is the largest market and all the manufacturers are scrambling for the US. If US was so insignificant VAG would not have made the Q7. Also Lexus shouldn't be as prestigious as Audi, they just entered the market about a year ago.

It's funny to hear all the trash talk.
imo German cars are the best. Be it BMW, MB or Audi. Each has strengths and weaknesses. For the longest time (I personally love Audis) Audi engines were weak (the highest output in 1986 for a mass produced model was the 5000 CD Turbo at 184 hp). But I still loved the quattro.
BMW was always looked at as the sportiest of them all. And that still holds true (across their range of vehicles).
MB, well, if I'm still alive at 85 maybe I'll consider one. Seeing that their average buyer is second probably only to Caddies.
It's been a tough ride for Audi since the mid-80's unintended acceleration fiasco. How many companies can make a comeback after going through something like that?
All in all, I'm sure each of these brands are thankful that they have such devoted and empathaticly loyal followers.

will, europe is a bigger market. us is just the single biggest country market.
now if lexus can't get a quarter of US sales in europe, which has 2x the pop of the us, then obviously they're not doing something right.
audi sells better than m-b across europe, not sure about bmw.
