Guess they will TEST the system out in Europe & Japan first while deciding if it is worth the NA Headache.

It's a shame that the wood in this car looks so fake, though. "Elegance" and the shape of the center console in this car don't seem to work well together.

Other than that, most of the tech here is purely gimmickry. And believe me, I'd say the same thing if it was a German car.

Toyota's reliability has been declining as of late, FYI. I'm not saying it's as bad as Merc's or something, but still...

Will, the only Audis even loosely based on VW platforms are the Q7 (which is a stretched version) and the TT (which has a completely re-worked aluminum frame), on the Touareg/Cayenne and GTI platforms, respectively. Lexuses on Toyota platforms:

Will, the car key card can slip right into your wallet. Basically, you don't even need a key at all since it detects you within the operating vacinity of the car which is great hey? I guess that carfan3 doesn't realize that since the card slips into your wallet, the size of the key would equal ZERO, because there is no key fob, just a key card you have in your wallet, which also contains your license to drive! Badda-boom, badda-bing! ;)

I give it a few months before BMW comes out with their knockoff version of the Lexus key card!!

I really get irritated everytime I read the comments.. so many people automatically toss a car to the side because its not a BMW or MB. Cars are about more than the logo and the brand, the prestige is there of course, but when I look at a car I look at body lines, body alignment, interior quality, engine quality, engine performance, service history for the brand, etc.

I see a lot of "OH MY GOD ITS NOT A MB OR BMW WHAT A POS"

Ok, I saw the repair order for lateral sensors and g-froce sensors or whatever on an S-Class and it was $900. There's nothing luxurious about that.

The new LS is VERY nice, it has quite a few new features that other brands don't have...

- Eletric intake cam phasing; cam lobe position can be controlled to within 0.00004 inch from the get-go

- Cylinder walls are cork polished which allows a slight oil residue to grow, allowing the first use of 0W20 motor oil

- The new 8 speed auto is smaller than the previous 6, the casing is 10% lighter and 30% stronger. Gears are cut closer for quiet operation.

- New air bags are designed to contact chest and shoulders, burying your face between the bags reducing facial burns

- Engine balance checked 4 times
-- Checked on dyno after assembly
-- Started w/ accelerometers on both sides of crank
-- Balanced after tranny is mated
-- Tested again after being installed in the car

Those little highlights are from a car mag.. some of you may recognize it if you've read it, but I won't say where it's from.

My point is, not every car is a complete POS because it isn't a BMW or MB. So for you people who don't give a car a second thought because of the name and then write a post stating that "ITS NOT A BMW I WOULDNT BUY IT", please don't post again, you really irritate readers and more than likely send people to the point of never coming back to this site.

A point of view is good, such as other companies had the VSC technology and what not long ago, but making a stupid comment that hasn't been verified makes you look like an idiot.

so EASY to do. just look at any CR "Frequency of Repair" set of charts. ANY lexus/toyota, even 8-yr old corollas, prove to be more reliable than ANYONE ELSE's (including MB, BMW, GMs, etc.) vehicles half as old.

Size of the key is irrelevant because it is inside your wallet since it is the size of a credit card. Not seeing the point of what I said is due to you being irrational and taking the word zero literally, when really, in the context of what I said, it should be taken figuratively.

key card, key fob, traditional key....matter of preference. i personally don't care which...all are very simple. you make it sound like a key fob is just so huge...what if someone wants a remote starter? remote trunk opener? panic button? is there a key card solution? the second more it takes to insert a key and turn it compared with pushing a button....although cool, doesn't save much time or effort.

a good point you forget to mention about a key card is that you can't forget your wallet at home...for that reason alone, i see a benefit

It is not really amazing as much as it is an advancement; the Lexus has a credit card sized fob that slips into your wallet, as opposed to the regular fob most cars now have, whether they be keyless or with key.

okay if i have a key that has a chip in it that is needed to start and drive my car, it seems like my car can only be stolen with the keys, so what the freak good would it be to have an engine immobilizer in the key fob? i mean it sounds cool, you can turn your car off with a remote from the keys, but you can do that with any car with auto start system.

not dogging on the ls cause the sebring is no lexus. i am curious as to how the two systems compare tho and pricing for the mygig (insider tip) from the factory is $1700.(unless changed at the last min.) that is cheaper than seperate nav and dvd systems on most vehicles today.

The Lexus nav is better because it is in an LS 460/600h as opposed to an ugly Chrysler :P
