GM It Is Willing To Share Volt EV Technology With Smaller Automakers

The Chevrolet Volt’s powertrain could be a good alternative for other automakers who want to hybridize their models, said General Motors.

When you can't sell it you might as well give it away.

Indeed. While the new Volt is a lot less putrid than the previous one, it's still not amazing. I drove one to Newport Beach and back last week and it's a competent car, but it's nothing special.

@ MDarringer:

So that's kinda like the Prius or Leaf right? They're all competent products, but aren't particularly "flashy".

Maybe the underlining point is that their EV systems "work". At least to say that the tech has been fiercely developed & improved to the point that the average consumer should just expect the Volt or Prius or Leaf to just simply work as-advertised.

And if consumers accept & buy other EV models with GM's systems, then sobeit.

Volt EV? Did the Volt lose it's gas engine recently? Volt/Prius = Hybrid. Leaf is an EV.
