Germans Recall 1.7 Million More US Vehicles For Takata Airbags
The Volkswagen Group of America is recalling about 850,000 vehicles due to potentially faulty airbags made by Japanese supplier Takata Corp. -- the company at the center of a long-running global safety crisis.

Volkswagen said it will recall 680,000 vehicles in the United States due to the potentially faulty airbags, while Audi will recall about 170,000 vehicles, spokespeople for the companies said.

The move comes after U.S. auto safety regulators said last month that Takata had declared 5.1 million U.S. vehicles defective, revealing that far more airbags than previously thought were potentially unsafe.

Swell, now my Passat is listed for this. I'm amazed that Takata has been able to continue providing these potential bombs for so long.

Imagine being a VW or Audi owner who's up for Dieselgate AND this airbag recall. It might seem to them that their vehicle is big bag of hurt :-(

Feel lucky.. My 09 TDI had the hpfp failure, the emissions scandal, and now the airbag. I guess I'm lucky it doesn't run anymore. Sure is a pretty red color though.
