Acura To Showcase The NSX As One Of Only Two Supercars Designed And Built In The US
Driving down rural Ohio Route 739 northwest of Columbus, it is not uncommon to see cows, farm equipment and — FOOM! — a wicked, 573-horsepower Japanese supercar on a test run.

Twenty-six years after Honda’s luxury Acura decision wowed the world with the high-performance NSX, the long-awaited sequel will hit dealer showrooms later this year. The sleek hybrid-electric all-wheel drive 2017 model is a showcase for the latest sports car technology.

The NSX is also a showcase for how integral Honda has become to the U.S. Midwest.

"later this year"...still ambiguous, unspecific, and vague. So long in the making for what? What new contribution will it bring to the market? None...bound for failure before it's even released....

Viper, Z06, NSX, and Ford GT.

That's 4 I can name off the top of my head.

Don't forget the Tesla P90D with Ludicrous mode. It can easily handle these supercars at stop light - and it's built right here in Silicon Valley.

Eh stoplight 0-60 doesn't make a supercar and I am not sure it ever really did. Notice the Charger and Challenger Hellcats are not in this conversation, either. Put these cars on a racetrack and they're not even in the same league as the 4 cars I mentioned. In fact the closest sedan to them is probably the CTS-V rather than the Tesla. Even so, comparing it to the NSX or Ford GT when talking supercars is a stretch.

Though it's not lost on me that Teslas are American-made and pretty cool cars. Something we should be proud of.

From the article:

"In a purpose-built factory just three hours south of Detroit, Acura’s flagship is only one of two exotic, mid-engine supercars built in North America. The other, Ford’s $400,000 GT, is outsourced to Multimatic, a specialty coach maker in Ontario."

So you are down to 3 made in the USA...And of the three, which one is the most high tech?

LOL. The headline makes it sound like Acura was engraving "Made in the USA" on its hood and side panels in foot-high letters.

So a Japanese car is going to be marketed as "All American"???

Sorry Pals but that Honda only have a foreigner name. It is american and it shows what you (Americans) can do when focused for a foreigner boss as Honda. It was made in america but what is not american is the philosophy (which is Jananese). If the philosophy were american, the the car would not be Hybrid and for sure the engine could be like V8 Cosworth or a Donovan on Steroids. I consider other Amrican cars as exotics: Hennessy Venom, Salem S7, Ultimate Aero, Tuatara etc.
