#GIMS: Is Volvo's New V90 Wagon Sexy Enough To Tempt You Into Trading In That Crossover In The Garage?

The new Volvo V90 has been revealed ahead of its public debut at the Geneva motor show next month. It will be offered with the same safety systems and efficient Drive-e powertrains as its S90 and XC90 siblings when sales get under way later this year.

Unsurprisingly, the shape of the V90 is similar to that of the S90, and also takes some inspiration from 2014’s Volvo Concept Estate. Thanks to a series of leaked images, we’ve already seen the exterior of the new car prior to its official unveiling.

Just looks like a shrunken Pilot/Traverse. The V60 looks much better.

I'd like a non cross country model, i.e. I don't want junk plastic cladding and the suspension raised and handling degraded. And I do want AWD!

This Volvo V90 is going to be hugely popular. Its going to be a "Subaru Outback" conquest car and in these socialist, Bernie Sanders times, the insecure wealthy people are going to "trade-down" from their MB wagons and Audi's into this.

The S90/V90 lines will be very popular; they are really nice product offerings.

Perfect for us older folks who had Volvo wagons in the past and now have trouble getting into high SUV's...I'm in!

Unsexy. It looks like a model year 2000 vehicle. it's not ugly, but it is DULL and featureless.

The Family Truckster is more up your alley.

Actually, I prefer the looks of the Flex parked in the garage to this derivative, featureless thing.

I have - over the years - had lots of station wagons - and really liked them - my last was a Sable wagon - and I prefer the style and usefulness of the body style - especially in small cars. So - Yes - this is the type of vehicle that I would buy - although I have never had a crossover. My 4x4s were always full size truck based - and I have a Chrysler Mini-van right now instead of the Station Wagon.

In a recent article here - where they asked for a dream car vacation - I said I would like to take a trip from the east coast - up north across the USA to the Major National Parks of the Midwest - through Mt. Rushmore - to Yellowstone - and then to the Grand canyon - Alamo - and the South and back home. THere was a time when I would do that with a tent - not any longer - but I would prefer a CAR for driving - and a station wagon is the obvious choice - for a long trip. However - the likely price of this for a 4cylinder is not what I would pay.

I'm with Tom on this one. With the prices of so many cars, IE: Mercedes with which everything you would want on it is optional, this Volvo looks like it could be my next car. That said the powertrain is terribly complex with its turbo+supercharged 4 cyl. Though the power is good, I'm concerned about long term repairs. If this car had a strong 3.5 6 cylinder (like the one in the current E Mercedes). But, the XC90 fully equipped is over $70K so what will this cost? I also agree that it needs AWD for me simply for the safety factor. Finally my wife would never let me get a wagon, but this is a wagon that already has a set "persona" so I think it will make my list.

If you're a station wagon sort of guy, then this is a nice looking station wagon.

I'm more into the crossover/sport SUV scene, like an Audi Q5, Porsche Macan, and Porsche Cayenne. In *my* mind, station wagons make me think of what my dad drove.

Volvo V90 has a short roof line makes for a tight feeling inside. Rear end looks like a is a sibling to the Honda CR-V at well over twice the price.
Rear doors are way to short making ingress and egress a difficult chore.
Steep rear hatch dramatically reduces usable interior space and length.
Look too much like a refreshed old station wagon. I'll pass.

I would rather a wagon over an SUV/CUV

Wow! Volvo is back
No three-year-in-advance teasing announcements (hear that Jaguar and Alfa?) and two new beautiful cars ready to sell.
