Tipster Confirms 4 Door Avista Concept Exists - But Buick Is Struggling On Bringing It To Production

If Buick‘s glamorous Avista concept is approved for production, it will be as a four-door coupe. That’s the hot tip from insiders who confirm a model of a four-door Avista exists inside GM’s design studios in Warren, Mich.

After the Avista concept’s reveal on the eve of the 2016 North American International Auto Show, GM execs were quick to point out any decision to put the car into production would depend on developing a viable business case. The Avista concept has a lot of enthusiastic supporters inside GM, including chairman and CEO Mary Barra, but many believe stretching the wheelbase and adding a couple of doors is key to getting the car approved for production.

If a 4 door Avista exists, I'd make it a Cadillac. Cadillac needs some drop dead gorgeous styling more than Buick needs a coupesedan.

Completely agree w/Matt, Caddy's should stun with their exceptional gorgeousness. THIS, however should be the new Buick Riviera and the Avenir, I know its dead, should be made. Hey GM don't worry about cannibalizing sales from Caddy with beautiful Buicks, just make the Caddy's MORE Beautiful... you're making the products, so make them gorgeous. The competition is NOT doing gorgeous... so fill this space!

I would tend to believe that the "struggle" is real.

There's probably a lot of internal discussion about this model.

1. They can make the 4-dr Buick on the Alpha platform
2. The production version probably won't look like this beautiful concept version though.
3. ???? Do they take the chance of pulling a "Lincoln Continental" switcher-roo with the exterior design & push thru to production? Or do they make a 90%-95% concept-to-production model that might cost a bit more than expected?
