Are 2017 NSX Buyers Already Finding Ways To Ditch Their Spot On Waiting Lists?
The 2017 Acura NSX is one of the most anticipated supercars of the new year, but enthusiasts are already looking for ways to ditch their spots on dealer’s waiting lists. The latest ad for an “order slot” for the NSX is one of the most expensive we’ve seen yet at $100,000. The eBay listing, which went live on February 21, has a starting bid of $50,000 with a “Buy it Now” price of $100K. At the time of writing, there are zero bids on the eBay posting and we expect it to stay at that number for a while, as well.

THAT'S what you derive from this ebay auction? That this person is trying to ditch their spot. Or maybe they're just trying to cash in thinking they'll fetch close to the $1.2million price of the Barrett-Jackson car. They're banking on the desirability of this car which they think will make someone think it's okay to pay upwards of $300k in total ($100k for the slot and $156K+ for the actual car) for this car. Even as an Acura fan, that's just plain stupid.

All cars of this type have buyers that try to sell their early spot in line.

You never want to have to explain to your car enthusiast friends why you purchased a specific car particularly when every enthusiast magazine pans it, says Acura/Honda has missed the mark and it needs more work despite being delayed for years already. You never want to explain to your non enthusiast friends and relatives why you purchased a
specific car when they ask "You paid what for that when you could have had a Porsche/Ferrari?" The new NSK fails on both scores.

Buy a Corvette or Viper and half the price and be happy.

Buy a Corvette, Mustang GT350, Camaro SS, Camaro ZLI (coming), or Viper for half the price and get a car that will beat the Acura Fiero.

The NSX needed to start at $50K and top out at $75K. With that market positioning it would have sold well and would have provided a much more tangible performance to Acura's Japanese Mercury line.

The quote is from the article, from CarBuzz.com, not from the person to posted it to AutoSpies. But I agree with you, none the less.

I honestly had high hopes for the car... 10 years ago. Thought they were nutty to emulate a DB9 with the front engine prototype. Now mid engined and 3800lbs, I is a non starter. No relation to the original in it's design, it could be any car. Many other choices available for the same money.
