If Acura Ever Makes A Type-R NSX, Should The First Order Of Business Be Placing The Car On A Diet?
Here is the thing about hybrid powertrains: they are heavy, thanks to those lithium ion batteries. Obviously that’s not good when high-performance is involved, but Acura still opted for hybrid assist with its all-new NSX. And like its iconic predecessor, it’d make sense for Acura to develop an even more potent Type-R variant, but how? Considering the NSX already weighs 3,803 lbs, engineers will need to figure out some workarounds to the extra poundage. Gotta trim those love handles. Question is, where?

All of those changes mentioned in the article are spot-on. But Acura would also need to make performance tires standard, and eliminate all driving modes outside of Sport+ or Track mode.

Dropping out the hybrid garbage, bolting in a V8, and cutting the price $75K would be genius.
