Audi Delivers Yet Again With A 2.7% Sales Increase In February
Audi achieved its best-ever February sales in the brand’s U.S. history. The previous February record was set in 2015 with sales of 11,455 vehicles. Through the first two months of 2016, Audi U.S. sales rose 2.5% from last year to 23,568 vehicles.

February results were bolstered by sales of the A7 and Q7 models. The A7 posted an 87% increase from last February. Consumer demand for the all-new Audi Q7 remained high, resulting in a 63% increase over last February. Year-to-date sales of this luxury SUV model rose 111% over the same time period in 2015.

“There is robust demand for models at the top end of our lineup, such as the A7 and Q7,” said Mark Del Rosso, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Audi of America. “This gives us confidence that our sales momentum will continue with the upcoming launches of the all-new A4 and R8 this spring.”

Audi Certified pre-owned vehicle sales set a new February record, with a 0.4% gain on 3,713 CPO vehicles sold.

Audi holds the longest running monthly record sales streak in the premium car market according to a competitive sales report from MotorIntelligence.com.

Once again the Q7 has solid numbers and a surprising jump in the A7. With the new A4 about to hit dealers later this year, look for Audi to continue its record monthly sales streak.

It's really not a great state of business when a 263-unit increase is seen as an accomplishment. Acura went down by about the same percentage, but still bested Audi's unit sales with less than half the model lineup.
Good job on the Q7, though.

Yes, but don't forget under what conditions Audi has been able to accomplish this 2.7% increase. The current A4 and Q5 are both the oldest models in their respective classes and are very outdated. The new models have not gone on sale yet. These are two of Audi's best selling models in the U.S. and despite being so old, Audi has managed to increase its sales 2.7% (and for 62 consecutive months).

Once the new A4 hits showrooms laters this year and the new Q5 goes on sale in 2017, Audi's sales growth should accelerate. Add the upcoming Q2 to the mix and Audi looks set for continued strong performance.

Again, a 2.7% increase equates to not even 300 total units. That is bolstered almost exclusively by the Q7's good month. The reality is that the new A4 and Q5 aren't going to help the numbers anytime in the next 6-9 months. And even when they come, what impact will they really have since neither will be a leap forward from their predecessors especially style-wise. And the cheaper A3 is too closely aligned to the A4 and the buyers are gravitating to the Lexus NX and Mercedes GLC. The Q7 was destined to be a good seller because the 3-row crossover/SUV segment is pretty hot right now but it's still selling less than half of the older GLE/M and X5, so what kind of legs will it have going forward?

Don't forget that Audi is well behind Mercedes for US sales.
