FCA CEO Suggests Apple Find a Partner - Who Would You Match Them With?
US technology giant Apple should collaborate with carmakers to make a vehicle and use the expertise already available rather than attempt to do it on its own, Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said.

A source told Reuters last year that the California-based maker of phones, computers and watches was exploring how to make an entire vehicle, not just designing automotive software or individual components.

Speaking to journalists at the Geneva auto show, Marchionne said there was sufficient capacity available among car makers to deal with Apple's requirements and it would make more sense for them to partner with a car manufacturer rather than become an actor itself in such a "complex business."

(1) I wouldn't exactly look to the Fiat Chrysler group for automotive leadership advice.

(2) Everybody and their uncle has "advice" for the world's biggest, richest, and most desirable brand. It's weird how they got so successful without your help :-/

It would be interesting to see them partner with Tesla for some stuff.

Marchionne is f...ing hilarious. He's a true sales guy. He always make it sounds like the company he's courting needs to be merged with FCA to improve whereas in reality, it's FCA that needs the company he's courting. And don't get started on how Chrysler is so strong either because it's nothing without Jeep's performance in the US. Why isn't he courting Tesla, is it because Apple has the large cash reserve that FCA badly need? Why isn't he openly merging with Peugeot, is it because they don't have the money? What a joke of a CEO and what a joke of a company.

I'd have Apple work with Ford.

Sergio is desperate to find a partner....What does that tell you? It tells me FCA has serious cash problems and he is looking for deep pockets to bail him out before he rides into the sunset. Right now there are no deeper pockets than Apple. His public pleas "Please please marry me, someone anyone please marry me" is scaring everyone away.
